Sandbar excursion
Sara and Capt Jason were amazing on the Summer Time! They know the area like the back of their hands - it’s the season for sargassum so they made sure to take us to a sandbar where it was not. Bring sunscreen and a towel, sit back and enjoy. Highly recommend!

Thank you for recognizing their local knowledge and flexibility in finding the best possible sandbar conditions. Summer Fun on the Summertime!
The boat is custom built, brand new & beautiful. Captain Jason & First Mate Natalie were so knowledgeable & awesome. They made us always feel welcome & safe during our trip. As expected the sandbar had seaweed but Jason was honest and offered us an alternative clear water experience. Overall this tour was the highlight of our vacation.

Captain Jason and Natalie will truly appreciate your kind words! Thank you for recognizing our commitment to providing the best experience possible, even when Mother Nature has other plans. Fun family boat ride
My family and I booked a private ride during our vacation and couldn’t have had a better experience. Captain Jason and Sarah showed us such a great time. They provided sandwiches and drinks and a cooler for our byob. It was a clean beautiful boat and they had great toys for us and our boys to enjoy the ocean with. We hope to book again when we come back in town!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌴 We're honored you chose Island Girls Excursions for your family's private charter. Captain Jason and Sara will be thrilled to hear your kind words! We're so glad your boys enjoyed the water toys and that your family made such great memories together. We can't wait to welcome you back the next time you're in the Florida Keys! ☀️🌊💙

Disappointing
The boat itself was beautiful, and the ride out to the sandbar was enjoyable. The crew was friendly, welcoming, and worked hard to make guests feel comfortable throughout the excursion. Unfortunately, the condition of the sandbar was extremely disappointing. I understand that the tour company cannot control the presence of sargassum or natural environmental conditions. However, considering the amount of money we paid for this excursion, the condition of the destination should have been communicated to guests before departure. What made this even more frustrating was that the captain told us the sandbar looked the same the day before, indicating that the company was already aware of the conditions before our trip departed. Had guests been informed in advance, we could have made an informed decision about whether to proceed with the excursion. The water and beach conditions were so poor that no one from the crew entered the water, and many guests seemed reluctant to do so as well. Most people used the paddleboards simply as transportation to reach the sandbar rather than for recreation. There were dead fish scattered throughout the area and even a dead shark on the beach. The overall environment was unpleasant and not at all what was advertised or expected. Had we been informed beforehand, the company could have offered guests the option to reschedule, choose a different excursion, or receive a refund. Instead, we only discovered the conditions after arriving at the site. As someone who comes from a tourist town, I understand that these businesses depend on tourism and that environmental conditions can be unpredictable. However, in this case, the excursion should have been canceled or guests should have been given alternative options before sailing. While the boat and crew were excellent, the destination itself made for a very disappointing experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear you enjoyed our boat, crew, and service throughout the excursion. We understand your disappointment regarding the sandbar conditions that day. As a natural environment, conditions at the sandbar can change quickly due to wind, tides, currents, weather patterns, and seasonal sargassum movement. Unfortunately, these conditions can vary from day to day and even hour to hour. While we always strive to provide the best possible experience and monitor conditions closely, nature is ultimately beyond our control. Our crew works hard to create a fun, safe, and enjoyable outing regardless of environmental conditions, and we're sorry the destination did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments and will continue looking for ways to better communicate changing conditions to our guests when possible. For guests who would like to check current conditions before their trip, we provide a live sandbar camera feed on our website, allowing visitors to view real-time conditions prior to departure. Thank you for joining us, and we wish you all the best on your future travels.

Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Key West.
How much does Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys cost?
+
Prices start at $102 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Key West usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Key West is not rushed.
Is Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Key West, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Key West can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Key West and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sandbar Adventure Cruise in the Florida Keys start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Key West within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Key West?
+
Key West is a boat town. The only living coral barrier reef in the continental US sits seven miles offshore, and reef trips, sunset catamarans and backcountry kayak runs are the core bookings, alongside Hemingway house and Duval history walks. Our ranking weighs boat capacity and reef site rotation, which separates the good operators from the party cruises. On Outty we rank every Key West experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Shark and Wildlife Viewing Adventure in Key West, Southernmost Food & Cultural Walking Tour by Key West Food Tours, Half-Day Trip from Key West with Kayaking, Snorkeling & Sunset. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Key West?
+
December to April, dry season and calm reef water. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Key West?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
