What you get
About this experience
You're a private investigator hired to find a missing 19-year-old who fled to San Francisco to experience the 1967 Summer of Love. You follow her trail into Haight-Ashbury, visiting the same streets, cafes, and park benches she did. And somewhere along the way, the neighborhood starts to get under your skin too. This self-guided historical quest takes you through the streets that defined a generation. Using the Questo app on your smartphone, you trace the real footsteps of the counterculture at 10 stops: visit the Victorian homes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and the Grateful Dead, stand in the Panhandle where free concerts changed American music, and end at Golden Gate Park where 20,000 people gathered for the Human Be-In. Start whenever you like and walk 3.5 kilometres of Haight-Ashbury's most storied blocks at your own pace. Perfect for history lovers, music fans, and curious explorers. The story of the Summer of Love is still written all over these streets.

Not what we were looking...
Not what we were looking for. we wanted a simple guide to key sites not a game. we also found it difficult to access
Response from the operator: I'm really sorry to hear that the experience wasn't what you were hoping for and that you had trouble accessing the app. I want to gently clarify that Questo is specifically designed to be an interactive exploration game, rather than a traditional, straightforward sightseeing guide. We use puzzles and riddles to guide you from place to place while sharing local history. However, I completely understand that if you were simply looking for a direct route to key sites, our gamified format wouldn't be the right fit for your trip. I also apologize for the frustration you experienced trying to access the experience. We do offer 24/7 customer support directly in the app to help troubleshoot any login or access problems right on the spot, and I'm sorry we missed the chance to assist you. We want everyone to enjoy their travels, even if our games aren't the perfect match for their sightseeing style. Please email us at explore@questoapp.com with your booking details so we can look into this and make things right for you!

Very Disappointed!!
We were unable to load the App and therefore were not able to experience the game/tour. It was difficult to get help with this so we finally gave up.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, and I'm really sorry to hear that. you didn't play. I completely understand how frustrating it must’ve been not being able to enjoy the quest. The unlock process might sound to complicated some times, but as long as you follow our instructions, it works. If you’re still interested, I’d love to help you get back on track and make sure you have the amazing experience you were hoping for. Feel free to reach out to us at care@questoapp.com anytime, and we’ll make it right. Thanks again for your feedback, and I hope we can welcome you back soon!

Summer of Love-ly Afternoon
Like the themes presented in the story, my Mom and I are often culturally at odds. It was nice for us to be able to set that aside for an afternoon and just have fun together again. Questo, thanks for the adventure!
Response from the operator: Love that you connected with the themes! It's fantastic that our adventure provided a break from cultural differences for a fun afternoon with your mom. Cheers to shared moments and more adventures ahead. Thanks for the shout-out!

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury cost?
+
Prices start at $8 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does San Francisco Quest: Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
