    What you'll see and do

    1. Ko Samui

Forget the laminated menus of Chaweng. When the sun drops and the sky over the Gulf turns a shade of purple, the tourists are slowly retreating to their resorts. That’s our cue. Head to Nathon, the salty, sun-bleached heartbeat of the island’s northwest, where recipes are measured in generations, not minutes. Your feasting tour of 15+ tastings invites guests on a culinary experience around the backstreets of Koh Samui led by the team of professional foodie guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, and the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour so no-one is disappointed: ✖️ Vegetarians have 3-4 less tastings due to limited alternatives at some vendors. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies, due to risk of traces and cross-contamination. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!"

    2. Ko Samui

This is a food discovery of Koh Samui’s culinary soul. We’re hitting the backstreets and decades-old counters for 15+ tastings of unadulterated island fare. This foodie mission ignites right by the pier with a bowl of boat noodles - a dark, spice-clotted broth served within earshot of the ferry horns. To understand the history of the people behind the bowls, we’ll take a quick detour into a small museum to see the faces of the pioneers who built this local community.

      45 minutes here

    3. Ko Samui

We’re invited into a family kitchen for the real deal: deep-fried fish armour-plated in a salty-sweet amber glaze. True to Samui’s legacy as the "Island of Coconuts," we feast on young coconut shoot and shrimp soup, paired with the Southern greens of stir-fried melindjo leaves, and a fragrant chicken banana stalk curry. To wash it down, we’ll slide into an old shophouse for a shot of chiang-chun herbal liquor. It’s botanical, potent, and has been the unofficial fuel of the resident fishermen for over a century.

      60 minutes here

    4. Nathon Night Food Market

Then, we dive headfirst into the Nathon Night Market, a sensory riot of clanging woks and the perfume of charcoal smoke. We’ll navigate the chaos to snag chewy chive cakes, silky-smooth fish curry custard (hor mok pla) steamed in banana leaves, and the grassy nectar of freshly pressed sugar cane juice. This is the street-side symphony of the night, rounded out at a joint nearby serving herby Northern Thai laap chicken, and a deep-fried remix on the classic papaya salad. It pulls no punches with its fermented funk and offers a total reset of your Thai culinary compass.

      60 minutes here

    5. Ko Samui

The food expedition reaches its finale at a local seafood haunt where we encounter the Southern specialty of mixed rice salad - a kaleidoscope of colour-tinted rice and enough fresh herbs to cure whatever ails you. Then comes the secret dish: fish cakes with chaiya salted egg. Imagine springy, spiced fish paste wrapped around a rich, buttery yolk that melts like liquid gold. We finish the night with bua loy rice balls in coconut milk - warm pearls of joy floating in a salty-sweet coconut bath. We aren’t looking for sunset cocktails; we’re looking for the heavy-hitting flavours that have powered this island since the first ferries docked decades ago. This isn’t just a "tour"—it’s a nocturnal extraction of Samui’s culinary secrets. This is Koh Samui’s food at its most raw, its most tasty, and its most real.

    Great informative food tour

The tour was great, obviously eating good food but also learning a bit more about when the foods were served and some of the influences on the cuisine from neighbouring countries

    Authentic and Delicious

Our whole family enjoyed learning lots about Thailand and Ko Samui as well as eating some delectable dishes. Toni was a great guide and looked after us very very well. Highlight was having a few dishes cooked for us in a local house by grandma! Thanks Toni!

A glimpse into the old Samui

We have done many of the Chef Tours recently, including Bangkok and Hanoi in Vietnam. I had high hopes to learn some new things on this tour as we come to Koh Samui every year. The tour started off with heavy rain setting in just as we were about to leave to get there, Toni our guide messaged to say it was raining there also and not to hurry. It ended up taking us an hour to get there as the rain and school traffic at that time of the day is terrible. The location of the tour is not the handiest location for many tourists but it sure is the old Koh Samui. Toni was very knowledgeable about the food aspect but also the history of Koh Samui. We started off with some very authentic boat noodle soup, tender meat and aromatic broth. A warning don't eat them all there is so much to come. We then went to a cool little museum which all of us learnt something, it was very well done but not too overwhelming. The highlight was going to a very old settlement of houses just like the old Samui, we had a nice dinner in the garden consisting of 4 different dishes cooked by a grandma, it was very relaxing and as the rain had recently passed it was lovely and cool. We then got to sample a herbal liquor. The tour had plenty of walking to allow our food to settle and to take in the sights and ask any questions. We had a nice stop at the night market with 3 food options and a refreshing drink. Had my stand out dish here. Usually this would be a fantastic place to see the sunset. Our next stop was a refreshing walk along the seafront with nice fresh sea air. The view here would be amazing but weather was too wild earlier and we didn't get to see that. Our last stop was a very long established local restaurant where we enjoyed a dish we had never tried and a couple of others. It was a nice place to finish off and chill for awhile. Toni would be one of the most knowledgeable guides I have had and he made the night very relaxed, informative and enjoyable.

A must do experience in Koh Samui. Escape the tourist traps.

Toni was absolutely amazing. A must do experience in Koh Samui. It felt so special to try real authentic Thai food, something we definitely couldn’t have found on our own. Toni was so knowledgeable about the local food, history, and culture. It’s clear he’s done his research on where the best local spots are. We watched a beautiful sunset in Nathon, everything felt so calm and relaxed

Authentic food tour of Ko Samui

Toni took us on a tour of Nathan where we had authentic Ko Samui cooking the kind you don't get in restaurants and only get in people's homes. A must for any foodie

Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Koh Samui.

How much does Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings cost?

    +

Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Koh Samui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Koh Samui is not rushed.

Is Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Koh Samui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Koh Samui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Koh Samui and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Samui Suppers Food Tour with 15+ Tastings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Koh Samui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Koh Samui?

    +

On Outty we rank every Koh Samui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angthong National Marine Park VIP Small Group Tour, Cooking Class in Koh Samui with Micro Organic Garden, Half Day Elephant Home Sanctuary in Samui. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Koh Samui?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
