Didn’t do the tour, would not abuse the small horses, horrible exploitation of animals for your enjoyment !
Went with group of 8 friends we arrived on our ATVs for a guided tour of the waterfall. I refused to go on the tour as they said I could only go by horseback. The horses are malnourished, exploited for human enjoyment. The horses are very small and not well cared for. One of our group is 300 lbs and chose to ride a small horse they put him on. I was adamant I would not ever ride a horse in this manner. I walked away so upset and cried, prayed for the horses. Our guide took my husband and I to a beautiful nearby beach where we spent the afternoon. Upon return, the men in the group all said it was horrible and they would never do it again and said I was completely right about the horrible treatment of the horses. Do the tour on foot ! This should not be allowed and animal welfare should be involved and these people should not be profiting from abusing these horses, Shame on this excursion company !

Exhausting
Nice experience this excursion. It's not for very young children because of the boat and horseback riding. I always recommend buying it with an agent and not on the beach or by irregular means because they are very disorganized and although they take you the same way they waste time to organize with the transfers. We were picked up at 6.45am and not taken to the door of a hotel (Prince Bay) where we were joined with more people and had more than an hour because they did not have a vehicle for transfer to the fishing village where you must take the boat. The excursion is very exhausting. The ride goes all the way down a muddy road. Here I felt sorry for the horses, all very skinny. And the people who take you with the horse, walk you next door, carry a twig to hit the horse to advance. Plus they expect you to tip them. The food they offer is nothing otherworldly. They try hard but you see the dirt everywhere. The highlight is the beach of Cayo Levantado. Beautiful, sargassum-free, transparent water. Of course you have mud and horse boot everywhere when you're taken.

DO NOT SUPPORT- HORRIBLE HORSE ABUSE AND EMACIATION
I booked a tour through XPO tours which wound up being Jhoraji touring company that included a visit to el limon and Samana. I knew horseback riding was involved and was excited for that! Well the trip was honestly horrible. The tour felt very disorganized with very little direction. The horses are completely emaciated which I only realized once riding it and realizing it seemed it was about to drop dead, I’m not even kidding. The guides follow behind the horses and use sticks to essentially switch them. They constantly push them to go faster and faster on steep and uneven terrain. They aren’t taken care of at all. It ruined the entire experience for me and made me feel sick that I supported this company and excursion in any way. There’s nothing I can do now and I’ve seen other reviews like this dating back 10+ years. It’s horrible. Someone could also be seriously injured if their horse did give out due to maltreatment with someone riding it. The waterfall was beautiful but it’s full of hidden rocks you can’t see under the water which again can injure you badly and nobody even tells you/makes you aware ahead of time. Please please please DO NOT SUPPORT. If you want to check out the falls you can walk yourself just be careful.

Regular, animal abuse and bad road
This is not an adult experience. Horseback riding is dangerous and the animals are in poor condition. The road lacks maintenance to ensure people move safely to the waterfall. It is not worth spending the money on this tour, especially if they mistreat the animals.

Do not ride the horses!
Do not ride the horses here. We witnessed them being beaten when their handlers grew impatient and felt they weren’t going fast enough. They’re covered in scars from being whipped and malnourished. It is not necessary to ride them- it’s a short, flat walk until the end (where you have to get off the horses anyway to do a series of steep stairs). The trail is covered in horse manure that becomes a layer in the rain. We were covered in it. There are crooks everywhere trying to scam money/take advantage of you. Someone led us back to the trail when we got lost and tried to demand 1000 pesos from me for spending 5 minutes with us. Truly, it was a horrible experience and not worth the money or headache. Avoid.

Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.
How much does Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.
Is Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 31 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2.5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?
+
On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave, Small Group Buggy Tour to Water Cave and Macao Beach. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Punta Cana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall?
+

Does Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall include hotel pickup?

What languages is Samana Day Trip from Puntacana and El limon Waterfall offered in?
+
