Excellent
Carlos was an excellent source of information. We had a great group and great overall experience. The Inca trail was partially closed so alternative hikes, options had to be made and everything went smoothly with last minute changes. We felt very well taken care of. Our chef Armando kept us well fed with delicious fresh food and more then we could eat. Our horsemen Gracielo and Silveria were very hard working. Silveria always had a beautiful smile. I highly recommend this company

Perfecto!
The trek was incredible. My wife and I wanted to experience both Salkantay and the Inca Trail so this was the perfect option. We are avid hikers is the trekking was not too difficult once acclimated to the elevation (definitely take a few days to acclimate if you do not live at a high altitude). Portions of the Inca Trail were closed due to weather damage and Salkantay Trekking and our incredible guide Carlos Ochante worked very hard to provide alternative routes in order for us to still experience much of the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, and other incredible trekking. Our guide Carlos was wonderful. I would trek with him again in a heartbeat. He was dedicated to making the experience great for everyone in our group of seven (mostly strangers), building the groups friendship during the trek, and he was a fantastic teacher regarding the history of the Quechua people. Tupananchiskama!

The best experience!
This trail was the perfect blend of the Salkantay & Inca trails and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. Carlos was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Armando cooked us incredible food, and Gracielo and Silveria ensured we had everything we needed at camp. Part of the Inca trail was closed when we were trekking, but Carlos and the Salkantay Trekking team ensured we had a smooth, memorable and unique experience. They managed all the logistics behind the scenes so we could enjoy the trek, and I don’t feel like I missed out on anything. I would highly recommend booking a trek with Salkantay Trekking! They are responsive, create a beautiful experience on the trail, and share a wealth of knowledge about the Andean people. Thank you Salkantay Trekking (especially Carlos!) for making this an incredible trip!

Breathtaking scenery with excellent service and support. Highly recommend for those physically able for a challenge.
Salkantay Trekking put together an unforgettable Peruvian hiking adventure for my wife and I. Each day was a new challenge but our excellent guides in Nico and Leo made it achievable and fun for us and the other 6 people in our mixed age, global group. Sights were amazing with lodging and food that was unbelievable considering the remote areas of our trek. Would highly recommend for those seeking a physical challenge with breathtaking scenery and excellent support and accommodations along the way.

Amazing Salkantay Trek with a Professional Guide and Great Crew
We completed the Salkantay Trek with Salkantay Trekking and had an amazing experience. Our senior guide, Alex, was outstanding—highly experienced, extremely knowledgeable about the route and mountain conditions, and always calm and professional, which made us feel safe and well supported throughout the trek. He also brought the journey to life with his deep knowledge of Inca history and Andean culture, sharing insights that made each part of the trek much more meaningful. A special mention also goes to Mandel, the assistant guide, who had a positive attitude, kindness and was very upportive. The muleteer team worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to manage logistics and transport, and the chef and sous-chef consistently prepared excellent meals! Overall, a fantastic experience thanks to a dedicated and professional team. Highly recommended.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights cost?
+
Prices start at $1535 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights take?
+
Plan for about 168 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 168-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 168-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 7 Days / 6 Nights start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
