Simply a fantastic, memorable tour!
We are so thankful that we were able to take this private tour of Salem, Rockport, Gloucester, and the coastal road with the brilliant and entertaining Irish-American, Martin! The day before, we enjoyed his guidance in Lexington and Concord, so already knew we in for a treat on this longer tour northward. He picked us up on time in a new, clean minivan. The short time on the road was well-balanced with historical information and some well-received side-talk about music! We were able to walk right in to the Salem Witch Museum upon arrival in Salem. Afterwards, Martin filled in some additional information about the years 1692-1693. We then had a nice drive around Salem before having some free time to walk-about the area. Martin was very flexible and the experience never felt rushed or overly-rigid. He then introduced us to an incredible casual lunch spot where we enjoyed some legendary seafood. Perhaps the best surprise of the day was Rockport, where we walked about the harbor for a bit. My wife was so excited to learn that this harbor was used as a filming location for one of her favorite movies, but you’ll have to go to find out! We then made our way back toward Boston, by way of Gloucester. We saw the memorial to many, many fishermen (and women) lost at sea. This really gave me a whole new perspective on sitting down to a seafood meal in land-locked Arkansas. Martin inquired about our plans for lunch the next day. He made several great recommendations for activities and eating. He volunteered and was able to snag us a premiere table at the Red Sox Bleacher Bar for the following day. Sometimes guides make promises they maybe cannot deliver. Martin delivered, not only with regard to a very enjoyable and memorable tour of Salem and the coast north of Boston, but also with a great lunch experience the following day. I very highly recommend this or any of Martin’s company’s tours (we very much enjoyed the Lexington/Concord tour with him as well).

Martin was great
My wife and I travel alot and I can say truthfully that this was one of the best tour experiences we have had. On the booking end Joan was great and answered all my questions and gave me great recommendations. They were flexible on the timing. Once we booked Martin communicated as needed. The day of the tour we were picked up on time and headed out. Martin was a great tour guide because he walked the fine line between too little and too much information. He was flexible on stops so my daughter got to see a shop she wanted and my son in law got to record some bird sightings on his wish list. We never felt rushed or hurried. The service did not stop with just the tour. Martin recommended 2 great restaurants and was able to get us reservations on 2 different nights. I am not sure we would have gotten into either at the time we wanted without him. My wife and I would definitely use them again and recommend their service very highly.

History and beauty
Lots of history. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. Really amusing being in Salem near Halloween.

Excellent tour with a fantastic guide to several absolutely beautiful and historic locations
We thoroughly enjoyed our private day tour to Salem and North Shore areas of Gloucester and Rockport. Our guide Christian was brilliant throughout. He was on time and he was very relaxed but had such incredible knowledge of these areas and there history. There was never any pressure to rush any location or stop and there were times when he would deliberately stop for some of the more picturesque locations for photos. The flexibility of the day assisted our enjoyment as we went to Salem first and avoid the building crowds and other tours later in the day. Our journeys to Peabody, Gloucester and Rockport were simply stunning. A very impressive and enjoyable experience,

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Boston.
How much does Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston cost?
+
Prices start at $995 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Boston usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Boston is not rushed.
Is Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Boston, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Boston can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Boston and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Salem & North Shore Full Day Private Tour from Boston start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Boston within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Boston?
+
Boston is compact enough that a good walking guide beats any bus. Freedom Trail walks, harbour cruises, Fenway tours and whale-watch runs out to Stellwagen Bank are the core, plus Salem and Cape Cod as day trips. Outty Ranking weights guide storytelling and group size heavily, because on the Freedom Trail the narration is the entire product. On Outty we rank every Boston experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour, Boston: Freedom Trail History Small Group Walking Tour, Boston's Freedom Trail: A Revolutionary Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Boston?
+
May to October. Whale watching runs roughly April through October only. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Boston?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
