What you'll see and do
Boston City Hall
We meet at the heart of the city — the exact site of Boston's founding — directly across from Faneuil Hall. While the group gathers, your guide introduces the neighborhoods you'll explore using original historical maps, giving you a clear picture of the city before it became the city. By the time we set off, you'll already understand something most visitors never do: why the American Revolution didn't JUST happen in Boston, but why it could ONLY have happened here.
15 minutes here
King's Chapel Burying Ground
Who were the Pilgrims? Who were the Puritans? What were they running from, and what were they running toward? At Boston's oldest burying ground, we uncover the people who first settled Massachusetts Bay and the convictions they carried with them.
15 minutes here
Granary Burying Ground
The most famous names of the Revolution are buried here: Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams. But who were they, really, before history made them legends? Standing at their tombs, we introduce the Sons of Liberty: the organizers, the agitators, and the firebrands who turned popular frustration into coordinated resistance.
15 minutes here
Old City Hall
Some of the most beautiful architecture in the city is the background of a discussion about the historic obstacles to and inherent challenges of democracy
5 minutes here
Statue of Benjamin Franklin
In front of a statue of Boston's most famous son, we explore the story of America's first public school — and what it tells us about a society that believed education and self-governance went hand in hand. Benjamin Franklin never led an army or signed a declaration on a battlefield, but the ideas he embodied helped make revolution thinkable.
10 minutes here
Freedom Trail
Iconic brick pathway connecting 16 historic landmarks. Whereas most tours just blindly follow this path geographically from one direction to the other, we weave around the city visiting the sights in chronological order.
5 minutes here
Old South Meeting House
At the Old South Meeting House — one of colonial Boston's most important gathering places — we pause at the nearby Irish Famine Memorial to explore the fears and grievances that unified ordinary colonists. What does it actually feel like to live under the thumb of an empire, and what would drive ordinary people to risk everything to resist it?
10 minutes here
Old Corner Bookstore
One of the oldest commercial buildings in America, a quiet landmark with a surprisingly rich literary legacy.
Pass by without stopping
Old State House
The oldest surviving public building in America and the nerve center of colonial Massachusetts politics. This is where the debate between British authority and American rights played out in real time — in speeches, in arguments, and eventually in the street directly outside its doors.
10 minutes here
Boston Massacre Site
March 5, 1770. Five colonists killed by British soldiers on this exact spot. Was it a massacre or a riot? Were the soldiers provoked? What did it mean — and who decided what it meant?
10 minutes here
Faneuil Hall Marketplace
"The Cradle of Liberty." The place where ordinary Bostonians debated, argued, and eventually demanded their rights loud enough for a king to hear. We pause here for a break — and on days when the Great Hall is open, guests are welcome to step inside one of the most significant public spaces in American history.
15 minutes here
Quincy Market
A 15-minute pause in the heart of the marketplace. Rest your feet, grab a coffee or a snack, and use the facilities.

Old North Church & Historic Site
One if by land, two if by sea. The signal from the steeple of Old North Church set Paul Revere's ride in motion — and that ride set the war in motion. With the church as our backdrop, we tell the full story of the night of April 18, 1775, and why what happened in the next 24 hours made independence inevitable.
10 minutes here
Copp's Hill Burying Ground
Boston's second-oldest burying ground, visible from the street as we make our way toward a terrace with beautiful waterfront views.
Pass by without stopping
Bunker Hill Monument
We do a complete recreation of the Battle of Bunker Hill - the battle that made a local rebellion a colonial war for independence.

USS Constitution
The oldest commissioned naval vessel in the world. "Old Ironsides" was undefeated in battle. It was not part of the American Revolution, and we only see it from the other side of Boston Harbor, but we do provide an overview of its history and provide tips on how best to experience it.

Walking Boston
For one day in Boston, this is the adventure we chose. Was not disappointed and even more than I expected. Guide, Tyler, was very informative and pleasant. Even though it’s not long in distance, even us old folk made it, it’s a good idea to bring water and a snack.

Why this scores 97
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Boston.
How much does The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Boston usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Boston is not rushed.
Is The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 97 out of 100, which we label "Peak Performance". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3,007 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Boston, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour?
+
Around 1,052 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Boston can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Boston and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small-Group Boston Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Boston within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Boston?
+
Boston is compact enough that a good walking guide beats any bus. Freedom Trail walks, harbour cruises, Fenway tours and whale-watch runs out to Stellwagen Bank are the core, plus Salem and Cape Cod as day trips. Outty Ranking weights guide storytelling and group size heavily, because on the Freedom Trail the narration is the entire product. On Outty we rank every Boston experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Boston: Freedom Trail History Small Group Walking Tour, Boston's Freedom Trail: A Revolutionary Walking Tour, Freedom Trail Walking Tour with Bunker Hill and USS Constitution. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Boston?
+
May to October. Whale watching runs roughly April through October only. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Boston?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
