  2. Quebrada Del Toro (The Toro Gorge)

You will go on a journey through three different areas, allowing you an opportunity to get to know the best of this remote region in just one day. Start the trip by exploring the "Road to the Clouds," which follows the famous railway track of the "Train to the Clouds" through the “Quebrada del Toro” (Bull’s Gorge) up to San Antonio de los Cobres. On our way we will make a stop at Alfarcito where we are going to enjoy breakfast at a educational community of Father Schiffrin.

    240 minutes here

  3. San Antonio de los Cobres

We will follow the tracks of the famous Train to the Clouds, admiring this engineering work begun in the 1920s. On this route we cross the Quebrada del Toro to San Antonio de los Cobres. We will make photo stops, for example at the La Polvorilla Viaduct.

  4. Salinas Grandes

After this, we will begin the tour along the route that will take us to Salinas Grandes. A completely different landscape from the one we saw in the first part of the trip and with many possibilities of seeing llamas and vicuñas. In Salinas, we will witness one of the most beautiful white expanses in Argentina with sporadic turquoise hues and almost perfect reflections. Here, with the help of a local guide, we will have time to explore this great sea of salt, the turquoise lagoons that impact everyone who visits them, and including a very special visit to the Ojos del Salar (subject to weather conditions or limited in the summer by the native communities that manage the visits). The local guide will also explain to us about the interesting process of extracting table salt. At this point, we can take the famous photos jumping, in perspective, and with the reflection of the pools and eyes of the salt flat.

    180 minutes here

  5. Cuesta de Lipan

After enjoying this mirror of salt, we will begin the third section, crossing the Cuesta de Lipán, an unforgettable scenic route, with a descent of 2,000 meters in 35 km. There you will see the transition from the desert of the Puna to the fertility of the wettest valleys.

180 minutes here · Admission included

  6. Purmamarca

After this journey, we will arrive at the town of Purmamarca, where we will make a technical stop. Here you will see the famous Seven Colours Hill.

How far in advance should I book Safari to the Clouds: Salinas Grandes and Purmamarca by Movitrack?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Salta?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Salta?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
