We will head for RN 68 towards the tobacco towns of Cerrillos, La Merced and El Carril to turn off for RP 33 to the West. There we will enter the Andes Precordillera through the Quebradas de Los Laureles and Escoipe. Then we will begin to walk the famous Cuesta del Obispo, a meandering path surrounded by impressive rock formations and natural walls where we can see the king of the skies, El Condor. The slope will deposit us in the enchanted valley and the Millstone, our highest point 3348 meters above sea level. From this point, our landscape will change radically and we will enter the desert of the puna, where we will travel the Tin Tin straight, part of the Inca Trail, Los Cardones National Park, Payogasta, and Cachi. After lunch we tour the village with its colonial architecture that remains intact, its Church, its Museum that keeps the history of the indigenous communities of the area, and the artisan market.

Great tour, awful lunch
The tour overall was great and we saw some truly stunning landscapes. The driver did an amazing job on some very difficult roads. However, I can only give 4 stars to this tour because of the awful restaurant recommendation for our stop in Cachi by the tour operator. We were sat at a dirty table which was not cleaned for about 20 minutes. It took a similar amount of time for our order to be taken and after that we had to wait a further 25 minutes just to get some drinks. So a 45 minute wait to get a glass of water after an exhausting 4 hour drive. The food situation was not much better. Whilst they brought the food quickly half the menu was not available. Out of the four dishes we had ordered from what was available it then turned out one wasn't available either. This was a plain tortilla. What kind of restaurant runs out of eggs and potatoes? The food that arrived was alright but nothing special. We were upset at the situation because the tour operator had specifically recommended this place and the service we received was terrible. Walking around town afterwards there appeared to be several far more appealing restaurants.

Great day trip to Cachi with beautiful scenery all along the way! Flor Mendoza was a lovely and informative guide, and Francisco was an excellent driver, especially on those winding mountain roads. Everything was well organized and we really enjoyed the day. Highly recommended! 🌵⛰️

It was a interesting trip, the nature was fantastic. The mountain chain impressive. Maybe just a little long journey, but there is nothing to do about that.

Tour of Cachi
The Cachi tour was very beautiful and our guide was very informative and explained each sop and area in detail. Every stop offered a completely different landscape—from dramatic mountain roads and endless cactus fields in Los Cardones National Park to the charming colonial town of Cachi. Enjoyed a lovely lunch with humita and stuffed peppers and strolled around the town. The scenery changed constantly, making the drive enjoyable and interesting. Loved stopping at the local spice market, where we could browse regional herbs, spices, and handmade products. Tried a variety of cheese and sausages. It was a nice way to see the culture and meet very nice people. If you’re looking for a day filled with breathtaking views, unique landscapes, and authentic local culture, this tour is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!
