Too Rushed and Much Shorter Than Advertised

The tour started an hour later than scheduled and finished earlier than the expected duration. The description says the tour lasts “about 9 hours,” but in reality, we spent a couple of hours less than that on the tour. The guide also kept rushing us throughout the day, so there was not enough time to properly enjoy and explore the places we visited. We often felt pressured to move on before we had enough time to appreciate the sites. I would not recommend this tour to anyone who wants to take their time and calmly explore the ruins of Pisac and the archaeological complex in Ollantaytambo. The itinerary felt too rushed, and the actual duration was significantly shorter than advertised.

Response from the operator: Dear Jenny, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience felt rushed, as our absolute priority is to ensure every traveler can immerse themselves in the magic of the Sacred Valley at a comfortable pace. Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay at the start of your tour; we are already addressing this internally to ensure our scheduling remains perfectly seamless. We would like to share an important clarification regarding your specific itinerary, as our goal is always to seamlessly adapt to our guests' travel plans. Our standard 9-hour tour duration accounts for the full round-trip journey to and from Cusco. Because you selected the customized option to end your tour with a drop-off at the Ollantaytambo Train Station (which is highly convenient for travelers heading straight to Machu Picchu), the total tour time was naturally shorter because the return drive to Cusco was no longer needed. We were glad to help facilitate this logistical connection for your journey, though we truly regret that it made the overall experience feel incomplete. We take your notes about the guiding pace very seriously and will use them to ensure our guides balance travel logistics with plenty of time for deep exploration. Thank you again for helping us improve, and we wish you the absolute best on all your future travels. Warm regards, Joan

Excellent tour with Oscar. We enjoyed the sites and the information he provided. Great activity with children.

Response from the operator: Dear Rachel, Thank you so much for the 5-star review! We are so glad to hear that you and your family had an excellent adventure exploring the Sacred Valley. It is wonderful to know that your children had a great time and that Oscar kept everyone engaged with such interesting history and details about Pisac and Ollantaytambo. We will happily pass your kind words along to Oscar—he will be incredibly happy to know he made your family trip so special! It was wonderful visiting...

It was wonderful visiting the impressive archaeological sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Both locations were highlights of my time in the Sacred Valley, offering incredible scenery, fascinating history, and a deeper appreciation of the Inca civilization. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and fun throughout the day. Their explanations added valuable context and made the experience much more meaningful. My only complaint was the stop at the jewelry store. It felt unnecessary and detracted from the overall experience. After doing some research, I found the pricing and sales tactics questionable, which left a negative impression. I would have preferred spending more time at the historical sites instead.

We are thrilled that your Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo Classic Tour from Cusco was perfectly planned and executed. It is indeed a full, rewarding day! Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off) cost?

    +

Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off) take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off)?

    +

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo (With Train Drop-off) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
