Best desert experience ever
We visited lost city of Ubar and Wadi Dawkah, and then the black dromedary farms. We spent a beautiful night in the desert, seeing the best sunset ever. We stayed in a beautiful lodge with all comforts and ate typical food of the place. Our guide Khalid was so kind with us, as all the staff of the sand camp. It has been one of the best experiences we’ve ever done. Thanks to Oman, it’s beautiful places and kind people!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review, Martina We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the lost city of Ubar, Wadi Dawkah, and the black dromedary farms — these are truly some of the most unique experiences Salalah has to offer, and it means a lot that you appreciated them. We will make sure to pass your kind words on to Khalid and the team at the sand camp — they will be very pleased to know they made your desert night so special. Salalah and its people have a way of leaving a lasting impression, and we are glad you felt that warmth. We hope to welcome you back to Oman one day! With warm regards, Glory Tours Salalah

Wonderful experience at the desert
Everything went smooth. My tour guide Khalid picked me up at the airport on time, he was thoughtful and knowledgeable at every spot on the way to the desert. Watching sunset at the desert and walking around desert was the best experience. At the camp site, I enjoyed stars, shisha and conversations with my guide and other tour members. Khalid was very kind and thoughtful all the way, kept checking in with my needs. It was so fun and unforgettable. Thank you!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that everything went smoothly from the airport pickup all the way to the desert camp. Khalid is truly one of our most dedicated guides, and it is great to know that his knowledge, attentiveness, and warm personality made your experience so special. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to him! The desert sunset, the stars, the shisha, and the conversations around the camp — that is exactly the kind of unforgettable night we hope every guest takes home with them. Thank you for choosing Glory Tours Salalah, and we hope to see you again in Oman! With warm regards, Glory Tours Salalah

Perfect Anniversary Celebration in the Desert
We had a wonderful experience with Glory Tours. Our tour guide, Khalid, was very skilled, friendly, and professional. We experienced a sunset desert safari over the top of the dunes, and it was truly amazing. Khalid was extremely careful while driving on the dunes, especially since my wife is pregnant—he kept checking on us throughout the ride, which made us feel very safe and comfortable. We also had a memorable anniversary celebration on the dunes. It was an unforgettable experience and a must-visit trip!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the wonderful review!

Why this scores 85
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salalah.
How much does Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels cost?
+
Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salalah usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salalah is not rushed.
Is Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 52 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Salalah, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels?
+
Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salalah can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salalah and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rub Al Khali Desert Safari: Sunset, Sandboarding & Black Camels start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salalah within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Salalah?
+
On Outty we rank every Salalah experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include East Salalah Mountain Safari, Wadi Darbat, Beach, Camels, Dunes, Private Salalah Mountain Safari, West Salalah Tour - Caribbean of Orient - Fazayah Beach with City. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Salalah?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Salalah?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
