Great
The palace is awesome. Definitely buy the access to see royal apartments as well. The garden was under construction (most part of bridges, fountains and waterfalls), but you still can have a good stroll in the garden and walk to hidden waterfall with small lake. Very clean, lots of walking, many different rooms with awesome paintings on ceilings. Plan at least 3-4 hours; they have washroom on site.

A FANTASTIC DAY TRIP FROM NAPLES.
The Royal Palace of Caserta is located in Campania, Italia 55 mins by train from Naples. Movies that were filmed here - Angles & Demons. Mission Impossible 111. Star Wars 1 . The two Popes & Conclave. After visiting today we know why. It’s magnificent. This Palace was constructed by the House of Bourbon-The Kings of Naples & Sicily as their main residence as Kings of Naples. Construction started in 1752 by King Charles 111. The Palace is the largest erected in Europe during the 18th Century. In 1997 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the whole day here as visiting both the palace and gardens will take all day. In between seeing the palace & gardens have lunch at S Lucia Pizzeria Trattoria in the town. It’s a excellent Trattoria. We are there at the end of our visit. You can easily buy tickets at the door for € 18 each. If you come to Italy it’s a must see.

Impressive palace and gardens worth a visit.
Wow. The palace is amazing. We hired a guide, and I’m glad we did. It’s room after room of art and architecture. Without someone there to provide context and history it might not have the same impact. We went in July, it was obscenely hot, but crowds were manageable. There’s a cafeteria onsight as well as on the grounds. Prices were reasonable for a touristy place. After visiting the palace, the grounds are available to explore on foot, bike, or by shuttle bus to the far end of the gardens. Private golf carts are available for more custom tours - but no, you can’t drive them yourself. The gardens and water features are impressive. Wear good walking shoes. I’d wager that the palace isn’t on most tourists’ itineraries, but if you’ve got a little extra time, it was worth checking out. It’s a relatively easy and inexpensive trip from Naples. Sidenote: a scene from the Star Wars franchise was shot in the palace.

Gorgeous gardens
This is a stunning place with amazing grounds and gardens! Unfortunately, the inside was closed, however, the gardens are lovely, and it’s also nice to pay 10 Euros per person for a golf cart to take your party up and down the hill to see all the gardens without having to walk uphill in the heat.

The Royal Disappointment
This Palace is run down and has low maintenance. For something that cost quite a bit to see, I was astonished at how the city “prizes” their beloved history. The tapestries are absolutely filthy and not cared for. The paintings have such bad corrosion from years of abuse. The floor is weak and bouncy from mold as well as mold and leakage in the plastored ceilings. The stone, cracks and is left to fall and continues to crumble apart. Statues have dust caking their surface and you’re left wondering if it's even marble at all. I could keep going on and on about how just awful it was. I’m irritated about the money wasted when I could have used it to explore other palaces in smaller areas that are well cared for ans their paintings are definitely loved. This place is a money grab for the city.
