    Our team was very...

Our team was very committed to searching and finding the lights. At the same time they were sharing their amazing knowledge of nature and their beloved Finland. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us. We deeply thank them both.

Long private Northern lights tour, not as well planned as hoped.

Opportunity to see the Northern Lights was exciting. Van showed for private tour and no step stool or step on vehicle making it difficult to get in vehicle, especially for someone with cane. The tour was long at 7 hours plus with no planned bathroom break. When asked for bathroom break, it occurred on the side of road in trees. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we didn't see the Northern lights. The other tour guide asked if they could sleep on way back as they had to work the next day. They did serve hot berry juice/tea and cookies mid trip. Know what you are signing up for. Very long night, picked up at 8pm, dropped off at 3:30 am.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We’re really sorry to hear that the tour didn’t fully meet your expectations. The duration of our Aurora Hunt is listed as around 6 hours, but since it’s a real Northern Lights chase, the total time can vary depending on weather conditions and how far we need to drive to find clear skies. Thank you also for your comment about the step – we truly appreciate the feedback and will definitely keep this in mind, especially for guests with limited mobility. When we’re far out in the wilderness, public restrooms are unfortunately not available, but we always do our best to stop at the safest and most private place possible. We’re glad you could still enjoy the warm berry juice and cookies along the way, and we truly hope that next time the weather will cooperate so we can show you the real magic of the Aurora! Warm regards!

Auroras and Adventures: Our Private Arctic Journey with Arktictopia

My wife and I had an absolutely unforgettable experience with Arktictopia in Rovaniemi. Our private tour seamlessly wove together an aurora excursion, dog sleigh ride, snowshoe adventure, and ice fishing, creating a rich tapestry of Arctic experiences that exceeded all our expectations. The highlight was, of course, the aurora tour. Watching the northern lights dance in a clear, star-studded sky felt almost surreal. The private nature of the tour meant we could truly savor the moment without distractions, and our guide’s insightful commentary deepened our appreciation of the natural wonder around us. The dog sled ride was equally exhilarating. Cruising on the frozen lake with a team of spirited huskies was a heartwarming blend of adrenaline and connection to nature. Our guide not only ensured our safety but also shared fascinating stories about the local culture and the art of mushing, making the journey both fun and informative. Snowshoeing through the pristine wilderness gave us a peaceful, meditative experience, allowing us to absorb the quiet beauty of the Arctic landscape at our own pace. And when it came to ice fishing, the calm and focus required was the perfect counterbalance to the day’s more energetic activities, offering us a taste of traditional Finnish recreation. Overall, every detail was thoughtfully arranged by the Arktictopia team. Their expertise and warm hospitality transformed our adventure into a deeply personal and enriching experience. For anyone looking to immerse themselves in the magic of the Arctic with a mix of thrilling and serene activities, we wholeheartedly recommend Arktictopia in Rovaniemi.

    Amazing experience

The experience is wonderful, the opportunity to see this beauty in the sky as well, but what is important is when it is done with professionals like those from Arctictopia. I recommend this wonderful team for doing their best to deliver on their promises. Thank you.

Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.

How much does Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt cost?

    +

Prices start at $209 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.

Is Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rovaniemi: The Real Private Northern Lights Hunt start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
