What you get
About this experience
Snowmobiling at night in Lapland offers a unique perspective — riding through silent, snow-covered forests under the Arctic sky, with the chance to see the Northern Lights above. With Arctic GM, the experience focuses on quality and comfort: small groups, quieter routes away from mass tourism, experienced guides, and premium equipment. Operated by The Original Aurora Hunters®, Arctic GM is a family-run company with roots in Lapland dating back to the 1600s. Your evening begins with pickup and transfer to a private base. After instructions, you’ll set off on snowmobiles shared between two guests, with a driver switch during the ride. The route includes around 2 hours of driving through forests and open landscapes, far from city lights. Stops are made to enjoy the surroundings and check the sky — if conditions are favorable, the Northern Lights may appear. After the ride, warm up with hot drinks and light snacks.

Once-in-a-Lifetime Arctic Adventure Under the Northern Lights
This Arctic GM Tour was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We spent about 2.5 hours snowmobiling through the snowy Arctic night, and it felt unreal from start to finish. It was very cold, so make sure you have good gear to stay warm. The heated snowmobile handles were especially appreciated. The snowmobiles were also easier to learn than expected, though you still need to be careful while driving. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and checked on us often to make sure everyone was comfortable. The small group size made the whole experience feel more personal and enjoyable. The best part was getting lucky enough to see the northern lights, even without a big solar storm forecasted. Seeing them while out snowmobiling at night was unforgettable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Arctic.

Amazing Trip with an amazing company
This experience was truly exceptional, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. The booking process was remarkably seamless from start to finish. Our tour guide was outstanding, demonstrating remarkable care, friendliness, and kindness. When I initially booked this tour, I never anticipated witnessing the Northern Lights or having the opportunity to stand and drive across a frozen lake. It was an absolutely incredible experience, and I would gladly repeat it.

It was amazing!
We really enjoyed the tour. Is was more than we’ve expected! Halfway there we stopped for an amazing aurora and when driving over the frozen lake the sky exploded with northern light. Our tour guide Daniel was doing everything he could to make it an unforgettable experience. The bbq in the tipi tent by the fire afterwards was nice to warm up while is was -25! Transportation from the Rovaniemi office took about 40 minutes and was really comfortable. Thank you so much 😊

Bus driver playing with his phone while driving.
I really enjoyed the activity . It was one of the most fun experience. Nevertheless i was going to write the company about something which really upset us. During the the drive I was seated upfront with my wife and also there was another couple who witnessed something: the driver was playing with his phone while driving replying whatapps, youtube and facebook. This upset me a lot and I told the lady dressed in red ( your guide) to say and do something about that. She replied saying that the bus driver didn't speak English as we shouted at him very loud and bad to stop him doing that! They didn't care at all. I don't find it very funny playing with our lives. He has the responsibility of 60 people. Bad accident happens all the time due to this attitude. That was something unbelievable. We were shocked
Response from the operator: Dear Guest Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly glad to hear that you enjoyed the activity itself and found it to be one of the most fun experiences of your trip. We are very concerned about the safety issue you reported. We take this matter extremely seriously. Your comments have been immediately shared with our operations team to review the driver’s behavior and ensure that all safety protocols are strictly followed. Guest safety is our top priority, and we apologize for the distress this incident caused you and your fellow passengers. At Arctic GM, we are committed to constant improvement and delivering authentic Arctic adventures, recognized with multiple global awards and 20 generations of Lapland heritage. Please reach out to us directly at diana@arcticgm.com so we can review this situation personally and address your concerns further. Best regards, Diana The Arctic GM Team

Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.
How much does Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles) cost?
+
Prices start at $188 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles) take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.
Is Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles)?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rovaniemi: Snowmobile Safari & Northern Lights (New Snowmobiles) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?
+
On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
