Wonderful walk, fabulous guide!

We took the half-day Routeburn Trail nature walk today. The scenery was breathtaking and Angelo Georgalli was amazing, sharing his extensive knowledge of the flora, birds, history and topography (and everything else!) with us. And he was a nice guy with a lovely personality! I would definitely recommend it and, if you go, enjoy!

Response from the operator: What a pleasure to read about your half-day journey along the Routeburn Trail with Angelo! It's clear he made the trek both insightful and enjoyable. His knowledge and friendly demeanor add that special touch to the breathtaking views. We're thrilled to know you appreciated his company and the stunning scenery. Your recommendation means a lot to us. Thanks for sharing your memorable experience, and we hope you have more adventures with us in the future!

Great day on the Rothburn Trail

April 25th we had a half day Rothburn Trail tour with Dan, then picked up Adrian. We had such a wonderful time we had. Dan was an excellent guide on the trail and kept at our pace, but helped us get to the Bridal Veil falls and a view point farther along. Amazing views! He knew the area, had intetesting stories to tell us along the way. On the way back we picked up Adrian. The two of them were so funny that the time flew by. Such a delightful afternoon. We are so grateful to them for giving us an experience to remember. Next time we'll do the whole trail!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic review! 😊 We’re delighted to hear that Dan made your Routeburn Trail tour so memorable with his stories and knowledge of the area! 🌟 It’s wonderful to know that he and Adrian added such a delightful touch to your afternoon with their humor and insights. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and we’d love to welcome you back to explore the whole trail in the future! 🏞️

NZ Long walks

The guide was excellent and helpful, the route and location was very nice, however this is an activity that visitors who do rent a vehicle, like we did, should be able to make it on their own, in our opinion.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the great review and for sharing your thoughts! We’re so glad to hear that you enjoyed the guide, the route, and the location. We understand your point about the flexibility of renting a vehicle, and we always strive to offer a tour experience that adds value for guests who want something a bit different from self-guided exploration. Your feedback is really helpful, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for another adventure!

Not what we expected

Highly recommend this tour and the company Nomad Tours we had a great trip.We were picked up in a Tesla not what we expected by Rachel our tour guide. This was because we were the only guests on the tour today. I was impressed that the company honoured our booking even though there was only the two of us going. Rachel was extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide more like a friend than a guide which made the afternoon very enjoyable. The scenery was amazing and the track was not difficult. On the way back Rachel received a call from the company to assist another tour group as one of their guests was ill and needed extra help transporting the remaining guests back. This meant we returned in the company bus not the Tesla but it was fine. I was impressed with the professionalism and care the company provided. Well done

Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Queenstown.

How much does Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day) cost?

+

Prices start at $159 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Queenstown usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day) take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Queenstown is not rushed.

Is Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Queenstown, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day)?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day) suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day)?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Queenstown can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Queenstown and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Routeburn Track Guided Walk (Half-Day) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Queenstown within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Queenstown?

+

On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Queenstown?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Queenstown?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
