Highly recommended, we loved this scenic bike ride!
We had such a great day E-biking the trails around Queenstown. Communication was a breeze and we booked the day before. The scenery was magnificent. David provided us a map and some great recommendations for stops along the way and the trails are very clearly signed. Would highly recommend lunch at Milbrook.

Stunning Ride, Flawless Service – A Day to Remember!
We rode the Roxburgh Gorge Cycle Trail as a group, hosted by NZ Bike Trails, and it was hands down one of the best days of our trip! From the moment we were picked up from our accommodation in Wānaka in a luxury van, everything was smooth and enjoyable. David, set the tone with great banter and a wealth of interesting local facts on the journey to Clyde – we were laughing and learning the whole way. The bikes (NZ bikes by Sinch) were super comfortable and perfectly set up for the trail. The Roxburgh Gorge itself is absolutely stunning – dramatic cliffs, sweeping river views, and even a jet boat ride in the middle, which was such a fun highlight! Laurence from Clutha River Cruises was full of interesting stories about the gold rush and the old mining days, pointing out the history along the way. The whole trail is incredibly scenic – easily one of our favourites and such a hidden gem in this beautiful part of New Zealand. At the end of the ride, David was there to meet us in Roxburgh with his trademark good vibes before driving us back to Wanaka. We couldn’t have asked for a better day – great company, amazing views, top-notch service, and loads of fun. I highly recommend this experience and the awesome team at NZ Bike Trails!

Rocking the Roxburgh
We had a private hire with David as our host. When planning our trip, he could not have been more helpful. Then when the time came, he was there to collect us as planned. David is full of local knowledge and facts - which he likes to share, making the journey all the more interesting. The bikes were perfectly set up, the briefing thorough, and afterwards he even shared pictures from the day, which was great. The Roxburgh Trail was a real surprise. We all loved it so much and the jet boat in the middle section was a real bonus. Again, David was waiting at the end with the luxe shuttle to return us back to our accommodation. The whole day was brilliant and we didn’t have to worry about a thing - not even the weather, which he also seemed to take care of!

Spectacular ride with NZbiketrails, Roxburgh Trail
Spectacular ride down the Roxburgh Gorge, Clutha River sparkling far below, dark Otago mountains above. Solitude lovely. Day all well organized by David / NZ Biketrails w great ebikes, helpful tips on descents and switchbacks, a route along the river from the Clyde dam past Alexandra and on through the Roxburgh Gorge (jetboat segment included in booking) to the Roxburgh Dam. The surface of the Roxburgh Gorge track is the best we've experienced in all of NZ. David's logistics and attention to every detail made the ride a gem. One we'd love to do again and again.

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Queenstown.
How much does Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included cost?
+
Prices start at $375 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Queenstown usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included take?
+
Plan for about 6.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Queenstown is not rushed.
Is Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Queenstown, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6.3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Queenstown can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Queenstown and add a light layer if any part of the 6.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Roxburgh Gorge Bike Hire with Jet Boat & Return Shuttle Included start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Queenstown within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Queenstown?
+
On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Queenstown?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Queenstown?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
