    Isla Mia beach Club scamming

The directions to the booth alone was incorrect and nothing at the booth stated Isla Mia beach club to the point we had to ask a different vendor where it was at while the Isla Mia staff just watched us looking for them. We were then told they only had the reservation for 2 people not 2 adults and 2 children that we showed via Viator that it was in fact for 4 people total with transportation. We were then told that transportation was not included and it would be an additional $75 round trip. When shown the confirmation that included transportation the staff member just said that his manager said the reservation didn't have it included and then proceeded to speak in Spanish to his manager on the phone calling my wife a punta(yeah I speak Spanish too) at which point we no longer felt safe even attempting to go to the excursion and went back to the ship to have a great time. 0/10 stars and I advised everyone to pick any other beach club as this place has obviously become a tourist scam/rip off.

    Waste of time and money

Family of five, children 18; 14; 8, chose this excursion while in Cozumel port of call aboard the Margaritaville Islander. Cruisers take note- we were told this was a four hour excursion. We made it to the facility at 10:30 and reloaded at 1:30. Not a huge deal but we were in port at 8:00. We boarded an air conditioned bus and rode approximately 15 minutes to the facility. The bathrooms were clean. We never went to the pool. All the staff were extremely nice and helpful. The sand is not white. The shore are extremely rocky and water shoes are a MUST! The facility provides shoes if you leave your id with them. TAKE CASH! Beach loungers are included but umbrellas are $10. Water bikes (2) and canoes (2) are included but life jackets are $10. Snorkel gear on site for $16. Coconuts are available for $9. From the bus driver to the wait staff to the water shoe attendant have tip jars. The menu is very basic. This excursion was/is a waste of money. 100% not worth it.

    Don’t go

Horrible. The place is in horrible shape. Everything is mildewed. Even with an All inclusive package you had to pay extra for umbrella and seat cushions. The reef and rocks so bad that you have to be very careful getting in and out and they’ll give you random water shoes if you let them hold your sea pass or ID. Sketchy. An old couple fell twice. Drinks barely have any alcohol in them. Food selection is horrible. The waiter dropped a cup of ranch at my feet in the same and never cleaned it up. I had to do it. Pool not clean even after cleaning. Sun beds or nests were chained off and not able to be used. Private massages right beside souvenirs stand and tables under trees. It’s really so bad. Would never go again.

White sand peaceful and relaxing beach experience

I love a relaxing beach getaway while on a cruise and this was just that! Easy to find our meeting location; 20 minute drive on a nice air conditioned bus; arrived early and easily got front row beach lounge chairs. We were quickly greeted by a friendly staff offering us chair cushions and drinks. We booked the all-inclusive package and the staff came by frequently for drink orders and food. We all really liked the taco plates. It was a quiet, peaceful, relaxing, uncrowded morning on a nice white sand beach (not bothered at all by vendors). We were encouraged to use the beach shoes (free) as the beach entrance is rocky. Bathrooms were clean--there was an attendant there; they are older and not in the best shape. Not much to see snorkeling-wise and there is a charge for equipment. There was a big storm the day before we arrived so there was some seaweed but not much.

    Do not come here

How can I explain the horror that this represents? Our cruise ship set this up when our first excursion cancelled for some reason. The road to this unmarked resort was a dirt road full of potholes. The toilet was dirty with a broken flush handle. The food was at best sketchy. The hamburger tasted like dog food. We had to get our own mats and cushions to cover our loungers because the ones the staff put on had either blood or other bodily fluids on them. The beach was a roped off area. Snorkeling was available but there was nothing to see because it was a beach and there were hardly any fish. The pool was roughly 7 ft square and 3 ft deep. Think a resort hot tub but without the Jets or heat. The cabanas were supposed to be complimentary but they tried to charge us when we asked to use them and they have them roped off. All in all this place is a nightmare. Go anywhere else if you can.

Roots Beach Club®: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.

How much does Roots Beach Club® cost?

    +

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Roots Beach Club® take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.

Is Roots Beach Club® worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 618 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Roots Beach Club®?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Roots Beach Club® suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Roots Beach Club®?

    +

Around 216 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Roots Beach Club® start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cozumel?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cozumel?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cozumel?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
