Fun...Fun...Fun... Great Outing.
George and Sofie were exceptional guides. The kids had a great time driving off road. George was extremely patient and very knowledgeable about Rhodes. One thing to mention is the 4x4 are not automatics and manual driving skills was necessary as well as water shoes when exploring the water ducts. The history of the horse farm was informative. Would have loved to see the other sides of Rhodes as well to get a full picture of Rhodes but great tour overall.

Off road fun
A great off road experience, we were collected near our pick up point which was the port for us then driven to collect our vehicles, after the safety talk we drove high up in the hills of Rhodes, a quick stop to take in some fantastic views for photos, and a couple of more short stops, one of which was to seven springs and then off to sample some local honey, olives and lemoncello before heading back on the road for more off road fun, finally stopping for a wonderful lunch of mousakka at a local taverna, we had a great day and a great experience, we would definitely recommend.

Beware
Beware! Nothing about this tour was as advertised. The tour cost almost twice the amount advertised and there was no lunch included. When I inquired about the lunch and the payment I was told the misrepresentation online “was not their responsibility”. No refund issued. Great guides but I would not recommend this company.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words about our guides. Allow me to address the concerns you raised: 1. The tour price displayed on Viator includes the note “from”, which indicates the starting price during low season. To see the actual cost, it’s important to select your travel date and group size, as prices vary accordingly. 2. You're correct — our guides are not responsible for any misunderstandings regarding the information provided on this website. “What’s Included” section of the tour description clearly states that lunch is optional and available for €15 per person. 3, We appreciate your recommendation, though we’d like to note — recommending guides without a company is a bit like recommending flight attendants without a plane or a pilot 😊 When booking future activities on Viator, we strongly recommend reviewing the tour description and inclusions to ensure the experience matches your expectations — rather than relying on assumptions. Wishing you safe and happy travels!

4x4 self drive expedition
Well organised day out, only 3 couples so easy to follow the guide. If you are not keen on heights then maybe not for you as we went up a mountain in our susuki jeep, on off road tracks, making it very bumpy and quite scary (for me) at times, but that was only the first bit, after which I relaxed. Cars are small in the back, would be worth paying for your own car. Stops were good.

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rhodes.
How much does Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rhodes usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rhodes is not rushed.
Is Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rhodes, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rhodes can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rhodes and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Wilderness Expedition & Traditional Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rhodes within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rhodes?
+
On Outty we rank every Rhodes experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Makarounas Fishing Boat Trip with swimming stop and BBQ on board, Athens cruise: Agistri, Moni/Metopi, Aegina with lunch & drinks, Rhodes Sea Kayaking Tour – The Pirates Route. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rhodes?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rhodes?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
