What you get

    About this experience

Tired of being in big groups to visit Iceland? This self-guided audio tour is made for you! Explore Reykjavik the proper way: taking your time, relaxed, and on your own schedule. The tour starts from the most notorious sight of Reykjavik: Hallgrimskirkja, the main church, and ends on the opposite side of the city center by the Prime minister's house. Let the voice guide you and discover how Reykjavik went from a Viking village to a booming modern Capitale while seeing local gems and the city’s best-known sites. The tour plays audio automatically at exactly the right time and place using your smart phone’s GPS and the VoiceMap mobile app. Once downloaded, the tour works entirely offline. Start the tour in the app, put your phone in your pocket, and let your guide direct you through the streets. The total walking distance is approximately 4km and takes about 1.5-2 hours without stopping, but you can pause anytime! At the end, we will also recommend some local hangouts for you to try our food and drinks.

    A great experience!

Plan to take photos with a camera. If you use your phone it will interrupt the tour. Familiarize yourself with the information provided on your phone as you walk. There is a countdown in meters to your next destination. There is also a map that will help you keep from getting lost.

How to explore the city at your own pace.

A brilliant way to see Reyjkavik and to learn about the city/country. Excellent value for money. The GPS navigation worked fairly well.

    Great Self- Guided tour

This was a very well done self guided tour and cheap - we were able to follow the route on the map to each location. We walked through all of Reykjavik

Nice overview of Center City/Old Town

Audio was well paced and easy to follow through the Old Town and Center City area of Reykjavik. It was a great weay to get oriented on my second day in Iceland.

This is one of the worst user friendly attempts we made in the last two weeks with a tour

Four of us could not figure out how to download the app that needed to be downloaded and then once we got it downloaded, we can not figure out how to get it to work out in the city without good Internet maybe with good Internet it would work easier, but we should’ve been warned about that in advance And when we wrote a message to them, they did not even respond so we were out $45. Not a big deal, but it was very annoying to say the least.

Response from the operator: Hi there, I'm sorry that you were unhappy with your experience. We recommend downloading your tour using a wifi connection, it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. We're aware of your refund request, please respond to the email we sent or follow up via support@voicemap.me so that it can get resolved. Best, Helene

Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk cost?

    +

Prices start at $12 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Reykjavik Main Sights and Hidden Spots: A Self-Guided Audio Walk start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
