About this experience
Join a respectful whale-watching cruise from Costa Adeje aboard a classic wooden boat, sailing along Tenerife’s coast in search of whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. This experience is designed to be calm, responsible, and nature-focused. Our crew follows ethical viewing practices at all times, observing marine life at a safe distance and prioritizing animal welfare throughout the tour. As you sail, enjoy informative commentary about the species you may encounter, their behaviour, and the conservation efforts that help protect Tenerife’s marine environment. Towards the end of the excursion, the tour finishes with a relaxed swimming stop near the coast, offering a refreshing dip in the Atlantic before returning to the harbour. This stop is optional and takes place only if sea and weather conditions allow, always at the captain’s discretion. Ideal for couples, families, and travellers seeking a peaceful and responsible way to experience Tenerife’s marine wildlife.

Great trip BUT!!
Plus: Excellent boat trip, very interesting and informative. Small bar to buy drinks but water was free. Saw many whales and dolphins, then stopped off for much needed swim. Negative: upon booking, it was stated on ticket to arrive 15 min before due departure. If anyone arrived late the boat will not wait. So we arrived as requested, 15 minutes early, while waiting to board boat , the sun was blazing down on us 28 deg, no shade, every one was so hot. Eventually allowed to board boat, only to then sit in the blazing sun again while everyone else borded. THEN, it appeared that we were WAITING for some one who hadn't bothered to get there the 15 minutes early . In the end we were 15 minutes late departing. Why did they wait for them???? No consideration for all of us who had made the effort.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re delighted you enjoyed the wildlife, explanations and swim stop. We completely understand your frustration regarding the delayed departure. Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes early precisely to ensure punctuality, and we’re sorry that on this occasion a short wait was authorised. We appreciate your patience and your comments.

Great trip
Nice trip to see the whales and dolphins. Captain was good at pointing them out and saying when to take a photo. Dip in the sea at the end although if you have a learner/non swimmer there is nothing for them to use to keep above water and it's cold (as you would expect from the ocean so it takes your breath away)
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review! We're delighted you enjoyed seeing the whales and dolphins and that our captain helped you make the most of the sightings. We're glad you also enjoyed the swim stop. For future reference, life jackets are available on request for guests who would like extra support in the water. We hope to welcome you back on board soon!

Phenomenon
This trip was nothing short of exceptional, me and my boyfriend loved every minute we saw so many whales up close. The crew and Andy were all lovely and the boat itself was so cool. Excellent value for money and the swim at the end is a bonus. 5 stars loved it so much

Great Experience
Great value and a first class experience. Managed to get the two hour whale watching with a swim for 30 euros. Was sat at the top of the Shogun near the captain who was good craic'. Poses for photos with all the kids and lets them wear his hat. Gave a 5 euros tip at the end we enjoyed it that much.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Shogun experience and found it to be such great value. It’s wonderful that you had the chance to see the captain interacting with the children and making the trip even more memorable. Thank you for your generous tip and your kind words. We hope to welcome you on board again very soon! Kind regards,

Why this scores 75
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.
How much does Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim cost?
+
Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.
Is Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Respectful Whale Watching on a Wooden Boat and Swim start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tenerife?
+
On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tenerife?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tenerife?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
