Do not forget the genocide, do not let it be forgotten!

To ensure that the massacre in the heart of Europe is not forgotten, you should visit the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Center and Museum in Potočari, Bosnia and Herzegovina, dedicated to the victims of the 1995 massacre. The former battery factory, a witness to the massacre, has been transformed into a museum and opened to visitors with the support of TİKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency). Museum admission is free, please stop by the martyrs' cemetery opposite and offer your prayers. Afterwards, you can visit the museum in the battery factory and see a summary of how genocide, one of the most shameful and dishonorable acts in human history, was carried out. You can easily reach the village of Potočari when traveling from Sarajevo towards Serbia.

Very good experience with a spectacular guide

We have gone to Srebrenica for study reasons, and we hired the company for the simple fact that going during the day is difficult due to the availability of public transport and the time it takes. We had a guide called Emina Koso Sarajcic (I think is spelled this way). The truth is that his knowledge on the subject was an immense surprise, given that we are history teachers, and we really did not expect so much capacity and wisdom about the massacre, the monuments, and the small and interesting stories that she gave us from the moment we got into the car. It was a very pleasant trip, and we were surprised by her ability to communicate complicated things in a simple and appropriate way. Furthermore, his commitment and attention to the needs of the group was spectacular. I don't usually do reviews on guides, but in this case, it is an obligation because of how much we learned and how comfortable we were. I highly recommend a guide of such quality.

Response from the operator: Dear guest, thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that your experience with Emina exceeded your expectations, especially given your background as history teachers. Emina’s depth of knowledge and ability to convey complex topics in an accessible way is something we’re truly proud of, and we’re glad it added value to your visit to Srebrenica. It’s wonderful to know that the trip was both educational and comfortable for your group. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you on future tours! Warm regards!

Best tour company and guide so far

What a great day! Our tour guide, Saffett, totally made the difference between a good day and a fantastic day. My friend and I have spent our day with an artistically and intellectually talented fellow, great driver, laid back, awesome local knowledge, best music selection (and not too bad in the looks department). I wish we could take him home to Australia (yeah ok, the new wife can come 🙄). And Insider Tours: we had booked and the tour was confirmed. When we arrived at the Insiders Tours office, they had no record of our booking. The didn’t disregard us. They fixed the problem and paid for us to have (good) coffee across the road while Saffett changed his life around to make this tour happen. That is EXCELLENT service and this company truly wants to give good service. (They are also very lucky to be able to use Saffett as a tour guide). Bernadette - Perth, Australia

Response from the operator: Dear guest, thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a fantastic day with Safet. It sounds like he made your experience memorable, and we're lucky to have him as part of our team. We'll surely pass along your kind words—though we might have to keep him here in Sarajevo! We apologize for the mix-up with your booking and appreciate your understanding. It’s great to know that our team was able to resolve the situation quickly and ensure your day went smoothly. Providing excellent service is our top priority, and we're glad we could turn things around for you. If you ever find yourself back in this part of the world (or want to take us up on that offer to bring Safet to Australia!), we'd love to welcome you again. Safe travels and thank you once more for your generous feedback! Best regards!

Remembering Srebrenica Genocide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sarajevo.

How much does Remembering Srebrenica Genocide cost?

    +

Prices start at $74 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sarajevo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Remembering Srebrenica Genocide take?

    +

Plan for about 8.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sarajevo is not rushed.

Is Remembering Srebrenica Genocide worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sarajevo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Remembering Srebrenica Genocide?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Remembering Srebrenica Genocide suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Remembering Srebrenica Genocide?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sarajevo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sarajevo and add a light layer if any part of the 8.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Remembering Srebrenica Genocide start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sarajevo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sarajevo?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sarajevo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Fall of Yugoslavia, Sarajevo War Tour with Tunnel of Hope Museum and Frontlines, From Sarajevo: Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Study Tour, Tunnel Museum: Bosnian & Yugoslav Wars Tour with War Veteran. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sarajevo?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sarajevo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Remembering Srebrenica Genocide?

    +

Included: In-vehicle air conditioning; and Licensed Guide. Not included: Snacks; and Lunch. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Where is the meeting point for Remembering Srebrenica Genocide?

    +

Zelenih beretki 30 Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.
