Reindeer Fun
We loved feeding the reindeer in the snowstorm! The animals were very gentle and hungry. The warming huts were nice and the stew fantastic. We learned about the Sami culture and had a few laughs. 10 out of 10 would do this again.

Unforgettable experience
What an unforgettable experience to spend time with reindeer while also learning about Sami culture. The whole experience is very well run and both of the Sami guides on site were highly knowledgeable and willing to interact with visitors. I learned so much, especially from Jon. Highly recommend!

💝Reindeer and Sami
We had the most fun feeding the reindeer and had a good hour just to roam around the farm with the animals. It is therapeutic for the soul! This was followed by spending another hour in the warm cabin having delicious reindeer stew and then an informative talk by our Sami guide John-Michael - whose full name I couldn’t memorise however many times he repeated it. The joiking was an unexpected surprise which definitely made an impression on us. I was looking forward to buying a few souvenirs from the shop but this was very limited unfortunately. Then finally we had a comfortable 3/4 hour ride back to Tromso. Very contented 😊
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed feedback. We’re truly delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your time with the reindeer and that the experience felt so peaceful and uplifting. It’s great to know you appreciated the reindeer stew and the stories shared by our Sami guide, John-Michael—he’ll be so happy to hear your kind words! We agree, the joiking is always a special moment that stays with our guests. We also appreciate your honest feedback about the souvenir shop. We’re continuously looking to expand our selection with more authentic local crafts, so your comment is very helpful. It’s lovely to know you left feeling content after your visit. Thank you again for joining us and for sharing your experience so thoughtfully. We hope to welcome you back to Tromsø for another memorable visit in the future!

Amazing experience!
Really well run operation. Pickup was on time, the camp was only 40 min outside of Tromso and we got to feed so many reindeer! They have a herd of 71 reindeer to feed and this was a really fun experience. When you get there, you put the shoe covers on and get to feed them right away. After that, you get soup (either reindeer or vegetable) and listen to Sami history.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your generous five-star review! We are delighted that we could provide you with a high-quality, seamless experience from booking to departure. We are committed to delivering an authentic cultural tour that offers great value, and it means a lot to know you felt it was worth every moment. Providing the best service and tour is something we work hard to perfect. We hope you had a fantastic time in Tromsø!

Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tromso.
How much does Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure cost?
+
Prices start at $186 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tromso usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tromso is not rushed.
Is Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tromso, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tromso can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tromso and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tromso within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tromso?
+
On Outty we rank every Tromso experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chasing Lights: Aurora Big Bus Chase (All Photos Included), Tromsø: Small Group | Northern Lights Chase + All-Inclusive, Tromso Northern Lights Minibus Chase Small Group Tour with Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tromso?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tromso?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Reindeer Feeding & Sámi Culture Afternoon Departure?
+
Included: Local guide; Lunch; Beverages; and Tea and coffee. Not included: Professional photos. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
