Be taught in a fun, safe, and encouraging way, to catch your first waves with the support and tips you need to become a better surfer. "My name is João, I'm a local surfer from Porto with 30 years experience surfing. I'm a traveled surfer, former international competitor, currently running "Surf Coaching Porto". I'm a Certified Surf Coach, by the Portuguese Surfing Federation, teaching since 1998, and I WILL BE YOUR COACH, NO ONE ELSE! Been training local surfers and teaching foreigners how to start and improve their surf skills. Also I'm a Surf Guide partnering with the World Surf League, providing training camps (surfcamps) in Porto and organize surftrips worldwide. Besides that, I surf every day ;)”

My experience was that...
My experience was that the instructor was unprepared and chaotic. I would sugguest having 2 instructors for the amount of people in the group.

It was such a great...
It was such a great experience! We all had different experience levels and Jon was so helpful!! We definitely went over 3 hours but he was so encouraging and wanted us all to get better. Whether you’re looking to improve your surfing like we were, or you’re a beginner just trying it out, you won’t regret signing up for this!!

Surf lesson
Booked this for my first ever surfing experience and was not sure what to expect, and it was amazing! You get lots of time and helpful advice to pick up the skills and catch some waves. Highly recommend and would love to come again.

I cant say the worst experience because the instructor doesnt even bother to show up!!!
I booked this surf, and I arrived pick up destination half an hour earlier and try to reach the guy until 10 min passes than the starting time. He didnt response to my messages and i contacted directly to support center to get his number. When I called he said I thought you wouldnt come!! I was shocked, so he was super irresponsible and tried to blame me not informing that i am coming. If you got a ticket and confirmation why would you do that? So basically he didnt bother to come probably because i was the only one who booked and said it was %50 my fault that I didnt called him to say im coming. I took all the way from the center to learn this very last moment. He said there is no waves and im not responsible for the nature which is the worst defense ive ever heard because yes you can not be responsible for the nature but you are responsible for informing me. He said wait for 2 hours maybe i can find someother people and you can surf with us. I was so pissed off and said ok I will wait another few hours but i will also write a review about that. This made him go crazy and started shouting on me and shot the phone on my face. So basically my last day is ruined by a man who is lazy enough to not bother that he doesnt wanna do his job and wanna inform me at all. Dont ever book this. There is nice places around, you will figure out a trustworthy school once you arrive there.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and as you'll understand, we're humans and we can make mistakes, but it's important to admit it and provide immediate solutions. Drama and threats never solved any problem, in fact it turns everything even worse! Unfortunately most customers use reviews to judge instead of using this way to leave constructive critics and help professionals improve their services. Once again, I'm sorry for any inconvenience but we still believe that in the end preventing you to join the group (and fully refund you) was the best solution!

Excellent, fun and educational experience.
Juan is an excellent teacher, very personal and all and all very nice guy. My daughter and I were both beginners and we feel like we know more than enough to continue surf with confidence.
