What you'll see and do

  1. Vinicunca Mountain

The Rainbow Mountain Tour 1 Day, experience the most amazing colors of the Andes Mountains, explore in a full day tour to the most spectacular Vinicunca – Peru. Vinicunca or Rainbow Mountain, became one of Cusco’s most popular day tours, where you get to appreciate; yellow, red, ochre, white and turquoise mineral stripes in the mountain lend it wow appeal. From the Cusipata – Pampachiri approach, the 7km round-trip is gentle in grade, reaching a hillside viewpoint facing the mountain. From the top, you have 360-degree views include nearby Ausangate (6384m), the highest mountain in southern Peru. Since the high altitude (reaching above 5000m) takes its toll, try to ascend slowly to conquer the summit of Rainbow hills of Peru. Rainbow Mountain Peru, however, has breathtaking views easily allow you to forget about the 2 hour struggle you leave behind. The Ausangate glacier on one side and bizarre, colourful peaks on the other.

Great experience at 5036 mts

The Rainbow Mountain tour was a truly awe-inspiring adventure. The hike, though challenging, is incredibly rewarding, offering some of the most vibrant and unique landscapes I’ve ever seen. The colors of the mountain are unlike anything else, with reds, greens, and yellows creating a surreal, almost otherworldly scene. The trek itself takes you through high-altitude terrain, so it’s important to be prepared for the elevation and cold temperatures. The guide was knowledgeable and provided helpful tips throughout the journey. Despite the physical demands, the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit and witnessing the stunning view is unforgettable. The experience also gives you a glimpse into the local culture, with opportunities to interact with the locals. Overall, the Rainbow Mountain tour is a must-do for nature lovers and those seeking a memorable, off-the-beaten-path experience. Highly recommended if you are traveling in Cusco.

The Rainbow Mountainday tour is a truly unique and breathtaking adventure. The trek to the summit offers stunning views of the colorful, striped peaks that make the site so famous. While the hike can be challenging due to the high altitude, the effort is well worth it once you reach the top and take in the panoramic views. The local guides are friendly and knowledgeable, sharing insights about the area's history and geology. Overall, it’s an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Highly recommended the gringo tours!

Nice organization and kind team!

The Rainbow Mountain trek was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The 2-day hike through the Andean highlands offered stunning views of snow-capped peaks, rolling hills, and the vibrant colors of the mountain itself. The trek's challenge lies in the high-altitude conditions, but the rewarding views at the summit are worth every step. The vibrant reds, purples, and greens of the mountain are unlike anything I've ever seen. Our guide was excellent, providing insights into local culture and history. The trek was physically demanding, but the sense of accomplishment and the surreal beauty of the landscape made it all worthwhile. Highly recommend for nature lovers and adventurers!

Rainbow mountain and red valley day trip

The Tour was great , very early pick up but the breakfast and lunch included was tasty. Bring some cash with you. Water or drinks at lunch is not included . And you can pay for snacks on the trail. I recommend adding the Red valley portion if you feel fit enough after the summit . It was beautiful

Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day) cost?

+

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day) take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day)?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day) suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day)?

+

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rainbow Mountain Tour Vinicunca (Full Day) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
