What you'll see and do
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at about 4:45 a.m. Then, we will drive through the beautiful South Valley to Checacupe. This is a lovely colonial town where you can stretch, grab a snack, or use the restrooms. You’ll see its historic rope bridge, colonial houses, and a 17th-century church before continuing toward Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain. Along the way, we’ll pass remote Andean villages, and your guide will share insights into local life and traditions. At the trailhead, enjoy a snack box before beginning the gentle hike to the summit. The route passes the stunning Stone Forest (Bosque de Piedras), a natural wonder of jagged rock formations. From the top, enjoy expansive views of colorful valleys and snowy peaks. Learn about Andean myths and how locals connect with nature. After exploring, we’ll descend, stop in Checacupe for lunch, and return to Cusco by 6:30 p.m.

Well worth the effort but beware of altitude sickness at 4000+ metres
High altitude hiking is not easy but doable. The guide was fantastic and supportive at all times providing us with essential oil to help with altitude sickness. The views from the top are fantastic albeit the colours are not as vivid as shown in the publicity pictures. There are 3 mountains which become apparent further up you go. Not an easy hike but very rewarding in the end.
Response from the operator: Dear Ehtesham, Thank you very much for sharing your honest and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate it. You are absolutely right, hiking at over 4,000 meters is not easy, and altitude can be challenging even for experienced travelers. We are very glad to hear that our guide was supportive throughout the journey and helped you with essential oils and assistance along the way. Your safety and well-being are always our top priority. Palccoyo offers a unique experience with its three colorful mountains and wide panoramic views. While the colors can vary depending on the weather and light conditions, the scenery at that altitude is always impressive and rewarding. We are happy to know that despite the effort, you found the hike worthwhile in the end. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to accompany you on another adventure in Peru in the future. Warm regards, Happy Gringo Tours

Untrustworthy provider!!!
We booked the Palccoyo Mountain Easy Tour wg the great description with the many included stops like Raqchi & Cuatre Lagunas and the later start time. When the tour was confirmed by the provider, these stops simply fell out. Without these stops we didn't want to do the tour. The provider did not want this and has not yet transferred any money.... Just bad!!!

Great Trip! 🦙🦙🦙🦙❤️❤️❤️
We had a great time with Markos and Kevin as our tour guides. Spoke great English so it was easy to communicate. They also know the native language Quechua. We are from Orlando, Florida, USA and Markos and Kevin made us feel so welcome in his country. The drive from Cusco to the mountain was fun and scenic. Lots of alpacas and llamas! After the mountain, we went to the local restaurant that had delicious cafeteria style food. We are definitely coming back.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Amberand, for your wonderful review! 🌟 We’re delighted to hear that Markos and Kevin made your trip so fun and memorable, from the scenic drive with alpacas and llamas to sharing their knowledge of English and Quechua. It’s fantastic to know you felt so welcome in Peru and enjoyed the local food after the mountain adventure. We truly appreciate your kind words and are excited to know you’re planning to come back—we’ll be here ready to welcome you for another unforgettable journey! 🙌🇵🇪 Warm regards, The Happy Gringo Tours Team

Had a time of my life
had a time of my life on this tour to the Rainbow Mountains of Cusco with Marko, my guide. The tour was very nice with a lot of sights to see on the way up to the summit. Marko speaks good English and has a good knowledge and experience on treking up the Rainbow mountains. Every thing was just as it was mentioned in the itinerarty and well organised.

Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 11. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 11-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rainbow Mountain Tour Easy Option full Day - Palccoyo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
