Early Morning ATV Adventure to Vinicunca

This was the earliest pick-up I’ve ever done, but totally worth it to avoid the crowds. It was definitely a small group because there were only two of us. The drive was long but they gave us blankets and the van had reclining seats for us to sleep. The driver handled the winding mountain roads really well, I never felt unsafe. The place itself is beautiful: valleys, a sea of clouds, and herds of alpacas and llamas everywhere. Our guide Leo was knowledgeable and kind enough to lend me his gloves when I forgot to bring mine. The ATV ride to Rainbow Mountain was a highlight: incredible landscapes, Ausangate in the distance, and very few people that early. Getting here is rewarding. We got lucky and had beautiful clear views at the summit. This won’t be something I’ll forget soon.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing this—it truly means a lot to us. We’re really happy to hear that the early pick-up was worth it and helped you enjoy a quieter, more peaceful experience at Rainbow Mountain. It’s great to know you felt comfortable during the long drive—our team always tries to make those early hours as cozy as possible, so we’re glad the blankets and reclining seats helped. We’ll also pass along your kind words to your driver; navigating those mountain roads safely is something we take very seriously. Leo will be especially touched by your mention. He genuinely cares about our, and gestures like lending his gloves are just who he is. We’re lucky to have him on our team. We love that you enjoyed the ATV ride and those incredible views of Ausangate—having clear skies and fewer crowds really does make the experience unforgettable. And of course, those alpacas and llamas never fail to make the journey even more special 😊 Thank you again for trusting us with your adventure. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience in the future!

Rainbow Mountain Magical Tour

From the moment our guide Roger met us at our hotel we new were in for a special day. Roger was incredibly knowledgeable, advised us on local history on the way to Rainbow Mountain and answered all of our questions. Our driver was amazing too, we felt very safe under his excellent driving skills. We had a beautiful buffet lunch before arriving at Rainbow Mountain. The ATVs were well maintained and we were given very clear and precise safety instructions. Roger and the driver took pictures and videos of us during the day. We had a bonus stop on the way back to Cusco to see and cross the river on an Inca bridge. We were picked up at 10am and arrived back at 8:30pm. We missed the crowds, had great photo ops and still got back for dinner. One of the best tours I have ever been on anywhere in the world!

Response from the operator: Wow—thank you for such an amazing and detailed review! Reading this truly made our day. We’re so happy to hear that your experience with Roger started strong right from hotel pick-up. He’s incredibly passionate about what he does, and it’s wonderful to know his knowledge and energy made your day even more special. We’ll make sure he sees your kind words—he’ll be thrilled! It’s also great to hear you felt safe and comfortable throughout the journey. Our drivers take a lot of pride in what they do, especially on those mountain routes, so your feedback means a lot to the whole team. We love that you enjoyed the buffet lunch, the ATV experience, and those clear safety instructions—making sure everything runs smoothly (and safely!) is always our priority. And those extra touches like photos, videos, and the stop at the Inca bridge are exactly the kind of moments we hope turn a great tour into an unforgettable one. Missing the crowds, getting incredible views, and still making it back in time for dinner sounds like the perfect day! Thank you again for trusting us with your adventure. Hearing that this was one of the best tours you’ve experienced anywhere in the world truly means everything to us. We hope to see you again for another adventure someday!

Great day spent at Rainbow mountains. Worth every penny!!

We had such a great time visiting the Rainbow Mountains with Roger (Guide) and Edgar (Driver)! We wanted to start later in the morning and were looking for a private tour (with ATVs) to cover Rainbow Mountains. Even before we booked the tour, Roger gave us very detailed information about what to expect and how to prepare well, which built our trust tremendously! We were picked up from our hotel in the morning in a comfortable vehicle which took us to the Rainbow Mountains through a very scenic route - the red river was flowing beautifully and it was just so peaceful in the mountains! Roger has excellent photography skills as well and captured some great moments for us. Roger was very patient and the entire tour was so smoothly organized that my wife actually forgot about her altitude sickness :). Roger did carry an oxygen cylinder as well to manage any emergencies and I am thankful since my wife used it. My wife and I are very grateful to Roger and Rainbow Mountain Expeditions and we'll strongly recommend everyone to book through them - you'll have a delightful time!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review—it truly means a lot to us! We’re so happy to hear that you and your wife had such a great experience with Roger and Edgar. From the very beginning, we always aim to provide clear and honest information so our clients feel fully prepared and confident, so it’s wonderful to know that Roger helped build that trust even before your tour started. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the later start and the private experience—that peaceful drive through the mountains, especially with views like the red river, is something really special. And yes, Roger will be so happy to hear you appreciated his photography skills—he loves capturing those unforgettable moments! We’re especially glad your wife felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the journey. Altitude can be challenging, so knowing that Roger’s patience and preparation (including the oxygen support) made a difference truly means everything to us. Your safety and well-being are always our top priority. Thank you again for your kind words and for recommending us—it really means the world. We hope to welcome you both back for another adventure someday!

Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $242 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rainbow Mountain ATV Full Guided Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
