    About this experience

Maeklong Market is a unique, 'must-see attraction' that should be on every visitor's itinerary. It is called 'Risky Market' because there is a train track that runs directly through the middle of the market. Literally within seconds of the train passing through the market vendors have to pull their goods, and themselves, out of the way. The precision timings and movements of everyone involved are fascinating to witness. The second market on this itinerary is at the floating market at Damnoen Saduak. Whilst it is authentic and still used by locals, due to its popularity, it has become busy with tourists. You'll have plenty of time to wander along the side of the canal here, take a short paddle boat ride, and make a few purchases. 09:00 Leave River City 10:40 Ban Ka Long Railway Station 11:10 Arrive The Maeklong Railway Station 11:30 Watch the train passing Market 12:10 Floating Market with paddle boat 15 mins 13:30 Leave for Bangkok 15:00 Drop Off MBK

    BEST tour ever!!

Ignore the negative reviews. This tour was absolutely worth it and ended up being one of the best tours we’ve ever taken! The company was very clear about everything from the beginning. A lot of the complaints in the reviews seem to come from people who didn’t read the instructions or expectations carefully. We knew exactly what to expect, and everything was delivered as promised. Our tour guide, Hady, was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond throughout the entire day. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and truly cares about making sure everyone has a great experience. His energy, enthusiasm, and attention to the group made the tour even more enjoyable. The tour itself was incredible, well organized, fun, and memorable from start to finish. The only thing worth mentioning is that while the itinerary lists the end time as 2:00 PM, that’s when the activities end. You still need to account for the drive back, which brought us closer to 4:00 PM because of traffic. That said, the return trip was actually quicker than we expected and wasn’t an issue at all. Overall, this was an excellent experience and one I would absolutely do again. I would take this tour 10 more times and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Response from the operator: Dear Jenna_H, Wow, thank you so much for this incredible review! Hearing that this was one of the best tours you’ve ever taken absolutely makes our day. We are incredibly grateful for your comments regarding our tour instructions. We work hard to provide clear and transparent expectations for all of our itineraries, so it means the world to us when guests take the time to read through the details and see how smoothly everything runs as a result! Your high praise for Hady has been shared directly with him and our operations team. He truly pours his heart and soul into his work, and knowing his energy, enthusiasm, and genuine care made your day so memorable is the best feedback he could receive. Thank you also for sharing that helpful tip regarding the return travel time. Bangkok traffic can always be a bit unpredictable, and we appreciate you letting future travelers know that while the activities wrap up around 2:00 PM, the drive back is part of the afternoon. We would gladly welcome you back to take this tour 10 more times! Thank you for choosing I Asia Thailand, and we look forward to hosting you on your next adventure in Thailand. Warm regards, Nick (IAsia Thailand Online)

    The Incredible story

The person we had gave us a great insight to what we were going to see. It was very enjoyable 😉 ☺️ Great 👍

    Fund another tour

Travel.to and from this location consumes.your whole day. Plus.the noise.and air pollution from long tail.biats is terrible. Find something else to do.

Response from the operator: Dear Patrick, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the travel time and environmental conditions impacted your experience. As per the website this is in another province and is a full day tour. Guests who book this are usually aware of this. The Maeklong Railway Market and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market are indeed popular attractions, and due to their unique settings, they can be quite busy and lively. Best regards, Paul

    Ok tour.

Nice overall, but the train ride is super boring. Maybe just go to the train market alone instead of this tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Alex, Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you found the markets interesting but guests usually like seeing the train pass through the market! The Maeklong Railway Market offers a unique experience that many enjoy on its own, so we appreciate your suggestion for future travelers. We hope you had a memorable time exploring these iconic markets! Thanks, Nick (IAsia Thailand Online)

    It was a good experience...

It was a good experience but it had become to touristy. Way too many people and a little hard to enjoy. But still had a good time with the experience. :-)

Response from the operator: Hi Showgirl, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Maeklong Railway Market and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market tour! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the unique experience despite the crowds. These iconic spots do attract a lot of visitors, which can sometimes make it challenging to fully soak in the atmosphere. Nonetheless, it’s great to know that the overall experience was still enjoyable for you. Your feedback is valuable for those considering a visit, and we appreciate you sharing it. Thank you again, and we hope your future adventures are just as memorable! 😊 Thanks, Nick (IAsia Thailand Online)

Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bangkok.

How much does Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride cost?

    +

Prices start at $1300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bangkok usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bangkok is not rushed.

Is Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bangkok, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bangkok can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bangkok and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Railway & Floating Market Tour with Paddle Boat Ride start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bangkok within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bangkok?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bangkok experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bangkok Backstreets Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Old Siam Bangkok Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Tingly Thai Cooking Class with Morning Market Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bangkok?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bangkok?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
