Thrilling experience and A+ run company
Amazing staff. Great experience. My group was set to go canyoning early afternoon recently. 1/2 of us were standing on the platform when it started to pour, lightning and thunder. Out of an abundance of caution we had to evacuate while the other 1/2 had already repelled down. We met them safely at the rendezvous point and unfortunately had to end the experience early. PureTrek management made everything right and then some. They went above and beyond to make things right even though the weather could not be controlled. Special thanks to Jonathan for speaking to his management team on our behalf after we had to abandon the first trip and to Diego for making our return trip incredibly enjoyable. The trip ran smoothly and we had a blast. I can’t stress enough how they bent over backwards to make things right when they didn’t have to. It was a real testament to how this place is run. Do not hesitate to use these guys for an amazing experience!!!

25th Wedding Anniversary
We booked the private canyoneering tour for our 25th wedding anniversary, and it ended up being one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip. Our guides—Gio, Jorge, Manuel, and Sam—were absolutely phenomenal. They were professional, encouraging, patient, and made us feel completely safe from start to finish. I have a serious fear of heights, and when I reached the first rappel—the biggest one—I honestly didn’t think I could do it. Tears were rolling down my face, and I was terrified. My husband loves adventures like this, and since we were celebrating our anniversary, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and do something special together. The moment I leaned back and began rappelling, everything changed. The fear started to melt away, the tears disappeared, and I found myself smiling. About halfway down, I was finally able to look around and take in the incredible scenery instead of focusing on my fear. It was such an empowering moment. Thanks to the confidence and encouragement of our guides, by the halfway point of the tour I was doing things I never imagined I was capable of. They never rushed me, always made sure I felt comfortable, and celebrated every accomplishment along the way. They truly turned what started as one of my scariest moments into one of my proudest memories. To top it all off, the delicious lunch that was included at the end was the perfect way to celebrate an amazing day. If you’re considering this excursion, don’t let fear stop you. If I can do it, anyone can. Thank you, Gio, Jorge, Manuel, and Sam, for giving us an unforgettable anniversary adventure that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Pura Vida!

Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.
How much does Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $204 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.
Is Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pure Trek Canyoning Private Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?
+
On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Fortuna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
