Highly Recommend

We had an amazing experience! Diego was our raft guide. He spent plenty of time making sure everyone was ready. This was my first time rafting so I was terrified. I appreciated his professionalism and expertise. Not all raft guides come with that much experience and it made me feel very comfortable with these guys. Gorge, Manuel, Pelusa, Aurelio (the whole team) were awesome. They were all so fun to be around and were making sure everyone was having a good time. They helped make unforgettable memories!

Fast Rapids, Incredible food and lovely people!

What an incredible trip - picked up from La Fortuna and driven to the Sarapiqui river ( about an hour) by a lovely driver. Then met our river guide who was so friendly and talked us through everything - we also expected a large group but it was just the 2 of us and the guide which was a lovely surprise! Had an absolute blast down the rapids, a swim and jumped off the high banks which was insane. Saw some ace wildlife too which our guide was knowledgeable about. To top it all off at the end you are treated to honestly the best traditional Costa Rican meal with fresh juices and the absolute most welcoming people you could wish for. Photos are extra but they're 100% worth it to look back on the amazing rapids! If I could give 6 stars I would!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! We love hearing that the private experience, the rapids, the wildlife, and the meal all came together perfectly. Our team puts so much heart into every detail and it means the world to know you felt it. Thanks for choosing Desafío Adventure Company. We look forward to seeing you on your next adventure! 🌿

Vida Pura!

This trip is a MUST do. This company/raft trip did not disappoint! Gabriel was our guide. He had a great sense of humor and was very capable/confident on the river. He kept the trip fun and interesting. Enrique was in the Kayak ahead of us taking pictures and pointing out various wild life for us to see. We stopped for a break and had the best pineapple I have ever had. Enrique's pictures were fabulous and we were able to purchase them at the end for a very reasonable price. A large lunch was provided and it was delicious. I researched companies and decided on Desafio because of their reputation and great reviews. I highly recommend them.

Response from the operator: ¡Pura Vida! Thank you so much! Gabriel and Enrique will be thrilled to hear this — humor, safety, great photos, and the best pineapple of your life, sounds like a perfect afternoon on the river! Thanks for choosing Desafío Adventure Company. We look forward to seeing you on your next adventure! 🌿

We did the 1/2 day rafting tour on the Sarapiqui River from La Fortuna and it was the highlight of our vacation.

Absolutely the highlight of our vacation and we did a lot of activities. What made it so amazing: our rafting Guide Justin knew the river very well and kept us safe and entertained the whole time. I was apprehensive when I signed up but right away when we got there I was put at ease by his expertise. The River is beautiful and the surroundings incredible. We ended our tour with a delicious lunch and, the cherry on the cake, Justin helped us locate some tamales for our Christmas Eve dinner. His kindness and professionalism made our day. The drive to the site went well. Just make sure you double check the pick up time as they may change the time and location depending on how many pick ups they schedule that day.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! Helping find tamales for Christmas Eve dinner — that is Justin going above and beyond! He will be so happy to hear this. We are thrilled the river, the lunch, and his expertise made it the highlight of your vacation. Thanks for choosing Desafío Adventure Company. We look forward to seeing you on your next adventure! 🌿

Simply Amazing!

It was by far the best thing we’ve done while in Costa Rica. As a family we’ve done other rafting trips but this one just tops it all. Firstly, the staff: David and Gabriel were just amazing and so friendly. From the time we got picked up until we sat down for a late lunch, it was easy and smooth. I did find the ride from La Fortuna to the starting point quite long (around 1 hr) but we did get to see more of CR. If you need to shower after the ride, they have changing rooms and showers available including a towel. You can leave your belongings in the van and it’s super safe. We wore water shoes which were helpful as we did stop at one point during the ride to enjoy some snacks and climb up to a spot to jump into the river. Totally recommend doing this! The ride itself was super cool. The rapids were class 2 and 3 which were good enough for us as they were quite exhilarating. You get to also swim at some points during the ride which I recommend as the water is so refreshing. Our guide, Gabriel was also pointing out wildlife in between the rapids. We saw large iguanas sunning themselves in the trees (didn’t know they can climb so high), herons, egrets, vultures and cormorants.

Response from the operator: Hi, Thank you for your wonderful review! 😊 We're thrilled to hear that this was the highlight of your time in Costa Rica. We'll be sure to share your kind words with David and Gabriel—they'll be delighted to know they helped make your adventure so memorable. We're glad you enjoyed the exciting rapids, refreshing river swims, wildlife sightings, and the chance to experience more of Costa Rica along the journey. It sounds like you truly made the most of the day! Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome your family back for another unforgettable adventure in the future. Thanks for choosing Desafío Adventure Company, La Fortuna, Costa Rica.

Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.

How much does Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip cost?

+

Prices start at $93 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.

Is Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 39 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 13. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip?

+

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rafting Class 2-3 Sarapiqui AFTERNOON Trip start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?

+

On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in La Fortuna?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
