Amazing experience - book it!
My family of four (kids 14 and 12) had an amazing private canyoning experience with Pure Trek. Rudy and all the other guides were very friendly, great with kids and made us feel safe the whole time. While it can be pretty intense if you’ve never leaned back over a large drop in a harness, once you get the feel for it, it’s a lot of fun. My kids wanted to do it again and my wife, who is not a fan of heights, loved it! Highly recommended.

Buy just he parts you want
What I didn't realize is this is 3 different tours sold in one package, making it hard to rate. The waterfall repelling/canyoning was amazing! The volcano hike was pretty neat and worth the information learned from our guide. The hot springs was nith8ng but bring dropped off at a resort for a few hours with typical pools of varying temps. The hot springs made the day too long and I didn't care to be sitting in a resort after our awesome outdoor adventures. I guess I thought it would be more natural pools, not sure. Next time I'll grab each adventure I want to do.
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for sharing your experience! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the canyoning and volcano hike — they’re some of our most loved adventures. It sounds like there may have been some confusion with how the combo was sold. At Pure Trek, we do offer both combo tours and individual experiences so guests can choose what suits them best. If you ever come back to La Fortuna, we’d love to help you build your ideal adventure day! Pure Trek Team

Canyoning, Volcano Hike, and Hot springs
Booking through PureTrek was absolutely worth it! Booking online was a little challenging for me, I’m not sure if it was the excursion that I chose or maybe a website glitch but the manger was super responsive via email and made it easy to book! If you chose an excursion with more than one event, PureTrek is great at keeping track of where to drop you off so you don’t miss your next activity! My boyfriend and I did canyoning, volcano hike, and hot springs and everything was so fun!! The canyoning was nerve racking at first, especially if you aren’t the biggest fan of heights, but everybody was very professional and made us feel very safe so we were able to enjoy the experience. Our guides were Johnathon and Marco and they were lovely. I advise wearing a pair of sneakers you don’t care about or buying water shoes for this experience, and wear clothes that are light when wet. The lunch included with this excursion was really good and tasty! Just another added bonus! Melanie was our guide for the volcano hike and she was very friendly and knowledgeable!! We lucked out on our evening hike and had incredible views of the top of the volcano and a lovely sunset over the continental divide to end the hike. I suggest the evening hike when the temperature has cooled off a little. Personally, the hot springs were a little underwhelming. I had a certain expectation and when we showed up it was just a bunch of pools with hot water. Still a really relaxing experience and cool knowing the water came from natural hot spring, just not what I was expecting. If you want a natural hot springs experience I recommend doing research on your own to find somewhere that has that. There was a swim up bar which was nice for a cocktail. Dinner was included with the hot springs and was buffet style. Everything tasted great. Overall we had a fantastic day fully booked through PureTrek canyoning and would recommend using them for your booking needs!!!

Tons of fun!
Great tour. The canyoning was super fun, and neither of us had done it before. The guides were all super friendly and made you feel completely comfortable and safe in their hands. In between this and the hike we had a few hours to relax and prepare for the hike! The hike was with a partner company and our guide for that was very knowledgeable and took us on the longer hike which was appreciated. It was nice to end the day relaxing in the hot springs. Absolutely would recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words! 🌿 We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your first canyoning adventure and felt safe and comfortable with our amazing team. 🧗♂️💚 The mix of excitement, relaxation, and exploration sounds like the perfect day! We're glad you appreciated the longer hike and ended the day soaking in the hot springs. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to see you back for more adventures in Costa Rica!

Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.
How much does Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs cost?
+
Prices start at $276 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.
Is Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pure Trek Canyoning Arenal Volcano Hike Hot Springs start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?
+
On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Fortuna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
