    My Experience

I enjoyed Wilmer as our tour driver, but the tour we experienced was different from what we had originally purchased. He didn’t inform us that we wouldn’t be able to visit the waterfall until we were already in the van. The options he provided didn’t align with our group’s preferences. Although we were promised a 25% discount, we were told at the end that we couldn’t receive it despite the tour not going as planned. While the driver made efforts to accommodate us, our group remained dissatisfied with the overall experience.

Response from the operator: Hello! Dear client Mateba I explained the waterfall conditions weather due to hurracane happen and is not possible to do waterfall tour on the Main lobby before leave the resort. I give you a different option tour instead waterfall swimming actually group accept to do hot springs & volcanic mud. Pumas rescue center Shelter is part of the tour you book and is open. I took group to do the Shelter pay entrance fee for 6 people and only 2 want to do it, rest of group sit on the chair and wait for us finish the activity. I negociate with You give 25% money refund if You do pumas rescue center and lunch only but i can't refund your money because you group agree to take hot springs tour instead waterfall swimming and i pay more than the cost of the waterfall tour. Wonderful tour a little off the beaten path

The private tour included pick up and drop off at our hotel in Ocotal, which was super helpful since we didn't have a car. Our guide was Wilmar - very friendly and knowledgeable. We first visited the Rescue Center, where we had plenty of time to tour at our leisure. The Center isn't a flashy tourist destination, so it's a nice place to just focus on the animals and the Center's mission. Our second stop was the beautiful waterfall, which also didn't feel like the usual tourist destination - many local families enjoying time together and playing in the water. Again, we didn't feel rushed to get in, get out and move on. Finally, we had lunch at a local cafe near Liberia on the way back - delicious! We had a nice time and recommend booking a tour with Wilmar.

Response from the operator: Hello! Dear client Carol Greetings from Costa Rica Thank you very much for your great comments. Hope do to share with you and husband soon another great tour trough my tour Operator. I feel great when my clients have satisfaction and love wildlife and Nature. Great private tour & guide

Wilmer is a great guide and knowledgeable about the area. He surprised us by taking us to the waterfalls first but when we got there it made a lot of sense (less hot and crowded in the morning). Visiting Las Pumas Rescue Center and Sanctuary was a priority for me & my husband, and Wilmer was very good about giving us the time we wanted there. I have some limited mobility and I never felt rushed. Everything was at our own pace. Highly recommend hiring Wilmer for a private tour tailored to your needs.

Response from the operator: Hello! Nadia Greetings from.Costa Rica! Thanks a lot for the comments about the tour we did together. I enjoyed this activity with you. Hope so to see you again i'm a different excursion. At your service! Wilmar Retana Naturalist guide (I.C.T. ID #1156)

Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa Hermosa.

How much does Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming cost?

    +

Prices start at $135 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa Hermosa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa Hermosa is not rushed.

Is Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa Hermosa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa Hermosa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa Hermosa and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pumas Rescue Center & Llanos Del Cortes Waterfall Swimming start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa Hermosa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa Hermosa?

    +

On Outty we rank every Playa Hermosa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include La Leona waterfall adventure hike half day, White Water River Rafting Class III-IV from La Fortuna-Arenal, Guachipelin Zipline, River Tubing, Horseback Ride, Hot springs & Lunch Combo. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa Hermosa?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa Hermosa?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
