Fabulous White Water tour! Book it!

Fantastic white water experience! I’m so sorry I don’t remember our guides name and he was excellent! 5 starts on fun, friendly and safety! I would highly recommend for all ages, families and groups! Sadly we didn’t get to see any wildlife but the river was great, we had fun and always felt safe and I would highly recommend any one to this group!

Response from the operator: Thank you for the fantastic review and recommendation! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a fun and exciting white water rafting experience and that our guide made you feel safe and well taken care of throughout the adventure. While the wildlife decided to stay hidden that day, we’re glad the river provided plenty of excitement and memorable moments. We truly appreciate your kind words about the fun, friendly service and safety, and we’re especially happy to hear you would recommend the experience to families and groups. Thank you for choosing Native’s Way. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Costa Rica. Pura Vida! Native's Way

    Amazing experience, fantastic guide!

Best experience ever, definitely a highlight from our family vacation to Cost Rica! From start to finish, this trip was organized, FUN, educational, and exciting. We really appreciated the convenient pick-up/drop-off at our hotel, everything running on time, and the kindness and knowledge of all staff. Yeiner was the BEST guide. He was so knowledgeable, skilled, and hilarious. Our whole family of 4 (including a 13-yr old girl and 10-yr old boy) had the best time and are still talking about this experience 2 weeks later. We are so glad we got the photo package, too! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Response from the operator: What an incredible review to receive! We’re absolutely thrilled that this experience became one of the highlights of your family vacation in Costa Rica. It’s wonderful to hear that everything, from the hotel pickup and punctual service to the activities and our team, made the day so enjoyable. We’ll be sure to share your special shout-out with Yeiner. His knowledge, skills, and sense of humor are exactly what we love to hear about from our guests. We’re especially happy that your entire family had such a great time and that the memories are still being talked about weeks later. Thank you for choosing Native’s Way and for your enthusiastic recommendation. We hope to welcome your family back for another unforgettable adventure in Costa Rica. Pura Vida, Native's Way

Best part of our week long trip!

I was nervous, but Jason was the best! He helped make it fun the whole way and his energy was contagious. Not only was it beautiful, but it was a perfect route that started small and built to the bigger rapids and drops. I felt very safe and cared for the entire time by Jason and the other guides. We saw howler monkeys and white faced monkeys having a ‘turf war’ in the trees, lots of birds, and some fish. It’s a good balance of ability to watch for wildlife while also experiencing the action. You will get wet, the whole time, but it helps you stay cool and comfortable. This should be a must do for your trip. My only critique is that you end up in several different vehicles at different points, so it’s hard to know where to leave your bag. I recommend taking it all the way to the river in the 4x4 bus with rafts on the trailer(picture below). Then you can change in the bathrooms while all are getting a snack as you get off the river. They take photos that you can buy after. Worth it to not have to try to fuss with gear while in the raft. You likely wouldn’t be able to anyway with paddling. I’d do it all again if we were staying longer. The whole team was amazing, but get in Jason’s boat if you can!

Response from the operator: What an amazing review to receive! We’re especially happy to hear that Jason helped turn your nerves into excitement and made you feel safe and confident throughout the adventure. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him and the rest of the guiding team. It’s wonderful that you enjoyed the progression of the river, starting with smaller rapids and building up to the bigger drops, while still having opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. Seeing monkeys, birds, and fish must have made the experience even more memorable. Thank you as well for sharing such thoughtful feedback about the transportation and where to keep personal belongings. Details like these are very helpful for future guests, and we truly appreciate the recommendation. We’re delighted that you would do it all again and that the entire team made such a positive impression. We hope to welcome you back for another rafting adventure next time you’re in Costa Rica. Fun in the rapids!

We had so much fun navigating the rapids with another couple and our amazing guide, Luis! He was fun, knowledgeable, and calm. He also managed his crew well (there were 5 rafts on this trip) to ensure everyone was safe and having a good experience. Thanks Luis! I also want to mention another guide, Allison, who was leading a raft with 3 adults, one of whom was not paddling. She single handedly kept them all safe throughout the trip and prevented the raft from capsizing them on more than one occasion. Cool, calm & collected!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a fun and memorable experience navigating the rapids with Luis. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him, he’ll be very happy to know that his service helped make your adventure so enjoyable. We’re also delighted to hear your recognition of Allison. Thank you for taking the time to recognize both Luis and Allison. We truly appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Costa Rica! Pura Vida, Native's Way

Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa Hermosa.

How much does Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV cost?

    +

Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa Hermosa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa Hermosa is not rushed.

Is Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 183 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Playa Hermosa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV?

    +

Around 64 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa Hermosa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa Hermosa and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Whitewater Rafting Class III and IV start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa Hermosa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa Hermosa?

    +

On Outty we rank every Playa Hermosa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sloth Wildlife Experience, Coffee, Chocolate & Waterfall, Guachipelin Adventure Volcano Zipline River Tubing Combo, Adventure in Volcano Combo Tour! - Zip Line, Waterfall, Hot Springs and More. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa Hermosa?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa Hermosa?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
