not worth the time or money
the entire trip is on a small boat. if you are not doing the hidden beach, don't waste your time and money. the snorkling is a very small area and then yiu are rushed to s beach for less than 10 minutes before you are boarded. they skipped tje so called eco tour as well.

LONG boat rides, not good snorkeling, but really fun cave island
Boat ride to island was hour and a half, only 1/4 of the boat is shaded so be prepared to cook in the sun if you don't get a shaded seat. Went to hidden beach but only a few people did that part of the excursion. Took us to a snorkel location and it was the WORST. I got stung by 4 jellyfish and every single person that was on the boat that jumped in was stung but at least 1 jellyfish. A group of 4 swam out to the rocks to snorkel before anyone and they said there were zero fish and water was too murky so my family and I only went a quarter of the way and headed back to the boat, only to get stung more times. Note that there is NO LADDER to get back onto the boat and it took 3 people to hoist most bodies back onto the boat. Took us to a 2nd location and got off and this is a BEAUTIFUL beach with caves and rocks that were super fun to explore and very picturesque beaches. Ate sandwiches and pasta once we got back on the boat but then it took us 2 hours to get back to the pier and since they kept talking to us about NOT using sunscreen, we did not get to lather up properly. We had to sneak sunscreen on every chance we got. Was a miserable boat ride back since the boat had to go much slower.
Response from the operator: We’re so sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during the trip. We avoid sunscreen to protect the marine environment, but we understand how important sun protection is and will consider better ways to address this for future tours. Regarding the jellyfish, they aren’t always present, but we regret it impacted your experience. Thank you for your feedback—it helps us improve!

Good but could’ve lasted longer.
Overall good experience, Nacho is a good and knowledgeable guide. The organization was good but there was no kayak or paddle board available. Wish we spent more time snorkeling around the islands as it was kinda short.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed your experience with Nacho—he’s amazing! We apologize for the lack of kayaks or paddleboards and appreciate your suggestion for more snorkeling time. We’ll work on improving these aspects. 🌟

Worth the money.
The crew was amazing! Very fun and helpful. My family of 6 had a great time with kids ages 8-15. I loved not having to worry about food or drinks. Everything was taken care of. You can't actually go on the island, but you can snorkel by jumping off the back on the ship or take a speed boat around for the eco tour or just relax on the boat. On the way back from the island we had another stop at a beach where we could kayak or SUP. The ride to the island was about 2 hours each way, but we saw multiple whales along the way! Incredible. Enjoyed the eco tour (which costs extra but was worth it). Really a nice time and relaxing time.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.
How much does Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food cost?
+
Prices start at $600 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.
Is Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Puerto Vallarta: Marietas Islands with Open Bar and Food start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
