    2. Stretching along the waterfront, the Malecón is both a seaside promenade and an open-air art gallery. Its bronze statues, ranging from whimsical sea creatures to striking modern works, line the boardwalk against a backdrop of ocean waves and sunsets. 3. Isla Cuale

Set between two branches of the Cuale River, this tree-shaded island feels worlds apart from the busy streets above. Handicraft stalls overflow with woven textiles, pottery, and silver jewelry, while small food stands serve quick bites to fuel your browsing. Rustic bridges connect the island to the city, and leafy paths provide a slower rhythm that invites you to linger. It’s a great place to pick up authentic souvenirs and enjoy the laid-back pace of daily life.

    4. Mirador Cerro de la Cruz Viewpoint. Rising above Old Town, this lookout delivers one of the most dramatic panoramas in Puerto Vallarta. Whether under clear morning light or during golden sunset, it’s a breathtaking spot for wide-angle photography. The climb itself adds to the experience, giving you a sense of transition from the bustling streets below to a tranquil vantage point above the city.

Good Idea to Have a Private Driver

Meeting up with our driver was a little dicey as they kept switching up drivers on us. The location stayed the same, which was good, but the person changed a couple of times. The driver we ended up with was very nice and his car was clean and he was friendly. Fortunately one of us spoke Spanish because his English was broken. He took us all the places we wanted to see, but he couldn't tell us much about them. We did have a nice surprise when he took us to Elizabeth Taylor's house.

    Great cruise ship tour option

Great way to maximise how much you can see on a typical 10 hour cruise ship port visit. Our driver & guide Zulma was great, taking us to many of the viewpoints, getting close & giving us time to experience them.

Our driver Sabino(who is a professional tour guide,) picked us at the cruise terminal and for 3.5 hours showed us the sights and told us the history of Puerto Vallarta and surrounding area.We also did some walking around El Maelcon and downtown. The tour is yours and he will take you wherever you want to go.Highly recommended.

    Disappointed

Plenty of time to view sites. Contacted by two different people to meet up with for excursion, confused as if one was a scam. Went with Zul. She didn't speak a lot of English. Other tours we have booked through Viator explained a little of the stop we were to visit. Didn't get that with Zul. Had to Google sites to learn about them. Pretty much a nice taxi ride from place to place. Disappointed.

Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $38 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Puerto Vallarta Highlights Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
