⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BOOK THIS TOUR NOW!
This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip! My husband and I booked this as a private tour, and having the experience tailored just for the two of us made it even more memorable. Joseph was absolutely fantastic, friendly, insightful, knowledgeable, and so much fun to spend the day with. He shared fascinating history, local culture, and hidden gems that we never would have found on our own. We ate until our hearts were full, experienced incredible local flavors, and were able to see all of the major sights along the way. What really set Joseph apart was that he never made us feel rushed. He even offered to stop so we could ride an ATV if we wanted to add that adventure to our day. His goal was clearly to make sure we had the best possible experience, and he went above and beyond to do just that. We were so impressed with Joseph that we've already decided we'll be booking directly with him the next time we visit, so we can experience more of the tours he offers. If you're considering this tour, don't hesitate. Joseph is an exceptional guide, and this private experience was worth every penny. Highly recommend—BOOK THIS TOUR NOW!

Creating personalized and accessible experiences for our guests is very important to us, and your kind words mean so much to our entire team. Thank you for recommending our tour to other travelers, and thank you for allowing us to be part of your visit to Puerto Plata. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family back to the Dominican Republic in the future. May God bless you and your family as well! Warm regards, The Team

Disappointed with tour
Henry was a great guide and excellent driver. However the tour was NOT as advertised. We went on the tour to try local food and delicacies. We stopped at a mango farm which was nice and people were friendly, but very touristy and not a place locals go. Lunch was a disappointment. He stopped at an amber museum, where we wouldn't get out of the car as it was not what we wanted or expected. After that he wanted to take us on a city tour. We definitely were not interested. This was supposed to be a FOOD tour. We had to ask him to stop at a fruit and vegetable market, but we were uncomfortable walking around there. We asked to get some street empanadas, which he did stop at. Never received sweets or went to places the locals shop. We are intensely disappointment and felt it was a waste of money. Since we live here, we were hoping to get some insights and new places to go to.
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. After receiving your review, we spoke with your guide and carefully reviewed the details of your tour. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. Our Gastronomic Tour in the city is designed as a combination of local food experiences and highlights of Puerto Plata, as described in the tour information, photos, and itinerary. Because the tour is private, we also encourage guests to customize the experience according to their interests. Based on our review, your guide visited the locations included in the itinerary and also accommodated additional requests during the tour, including a stop at the local fruit and vegetable market and a stop for empanadas. The only planned stop that was not completed was a local sweets location, as the tour concluded after you expressed a desire to return to your accommodation. We understand that the local market may not have been the experience you were hoping for. However, it is one of the places where local residents regularly purchase fresh produce and other food items, which is why it is sometimes included for guests seeking a more authentic local perspective. At E&J Tours, we take great pride in delivering the experiences we advertise and always strive to provide a memorable and personalized tour for every guest. While we respect your opinion and are sorry the tour was not what you expected, we are confident that the experience delivered was consistent with the tour description. Thank you again for your feedback, as it helps us continue improving our service.

Fantastic Experience--Book it
Amazing experience! I highly recommend! Elian was one of the best tour guides I have ever had. He was prompt, courteous and extremely insightful. This was a multi-generational ship excursion and it was just perfect. We visited 3 food spots, rum distillery and he took us to a few spots for amazing pics. I can't say enough good things about Elian
Response from the operator: Elian truly appreciates your kind words. Providing a safe, fun, and personal experience for our guests is always our goal. Thank you again for trusting us with your excursion, and we hope to welcome you and your family back to the Dominican Republic again soon!

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local cost?
+
Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Puerto Plata Street Food : Eat Like a Local start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
