Great experience! But crowded.
Great experience! We received communication the day before that we should disembark our ship and meet our guide as early as possible, so that is what we did. Our driver Adrian was there to meet us early and was just a pleasure. Easy ride to the falls. Adrian made sure we were all set up to go with the first group of the day. Seriously - the earlier the better. This place gets CRAZY. We were off with our guides Omega, Philip, and one I did not catch his name. They were all friendly, encouraging, and enthusiastic. This is real hiking, but I still liked having my water shoes. My husband wore old tennis shoes and said they were a little heavy in the water. Make sure you are staying hydrated! Bug spray is good. Do not bring ANYTHING with you that is not in a dry bag or case. My phone did fine in a waterproof bag. I withheld one star from this experience only because of the crowding and the frequent waits on the hike. We stopped often due to the size of our group and trying to keep everyone together. I like to think there is a better way to organize this. Otherwise we loved our guides and definitely our driver!! The buffet lunch after was quite good. Certainly worthwhile port excursion in Puerto Plata.

Incredibly organized and so much fun!
I would recommend this experience to anyone and everyone (with average or better fitness levels). Communication was clear and reassuring. I had questions after booking and used the messaging system through viator. The company replied within minutes. The night before, we were also texted instructions for the next day. We got off the cruise ship and walked exactly where he told us to meet him (about a 10 min. brisk walk - not a lot of shade). We met our guide and driver and were off in a private, clean van. We were given tons of information about the area on the way to the falls and what to expect once we arrived. It was all very reassuring as I was a little stressed about the unknown. We were able to leave everything in the van which was kept locked and watched by the driver. We were added to another group - given helmets, life jackets, and a bottle of water and we were off. The hike had a lot of stairs and uneven ground. We wore harder soled water shoes and still could feel all the pebbles and rocks, but once we got to the water they were nice because they had drainage holes. They do stop and provide a couple breaks along the way. I'd like to think I'm in pretty good shape, but my cardio is lacking and that was very evident on this hike. But I'd still 100% recommend it. Once you get to the water, it is so refreshing and unlike anything I've ever had the opportunity to do. We only got to slide/jump into 7 falls. Most of them you have to slide into, but for the last 2 you have the option to jump (it's super high) or slide, or go down a ladder. I wear glasses (I'm pretty lind without them), so i wore them for the hike, but once I started sliding and jumping, iur guide said I had to give him my glasses for safety. He stored them in a water safe bag along with peoples' phones/watches, etc. We didn't get the picture package, but another group did and they stopped for a lot of pictures and videos at each stage. Afterwards lunch was included and it's right at the gate of the falls - a little buffet. Food was got and good and there was a good variety. Afterwards we went to a little place to learn about all the things they grow, how they make coffee and chocolate from plant to product. We saw a cigar making demonstration and tasted the manajuana drink. From there we were taken right back to where we were picked up and made the 10 min walk back to the ship (with way more shade). This tour was highly organized, informative, so much fun, and a great mini introduction to Puerto Plata. I will 100% book with this company again.

Best adventure ever!
It was awesome. Our family of 8 had an authentic experience, enjoying the nature, zip lines and natural water slides. They have been many places with unique adventures and said this is their all time favorite. In fact, they couldn’t take their cell phones (they are teenagers) and said they didnt even miss having them as they got to fully experience this adventure.

Great Family Fun!
We had a fantastic day in Puerto Plata. Damajagua Falls were so fun and very thrilling. Definitely worth the hike. Having a private ride to and from the falls with a stop in town to visit a cigar shop and see umbrella street was a perfect end to our tour. Edgar was a great tour guide!

Why this scores 82
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfalls Tour with Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
