1. Salisbury Cathedral

   Salisbury Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in the city of Salisbury, England. The cathedral is considered the beau idéal of Early English Gothic design. Built over a relatively short period, some 38 years between 1220 and 1258, it has a unity and coherence that is unusual in medieval English cathedrals. The tower and spire were completed by 1330 and at 404 feet (123 m) is the tallest church spire in England. 2. Stonehenge

   Stonehenge is perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. It was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. In the early Bronze Age many burial mounds were built nearby. Today, together with Avebury, Stonehenge forms the heart of a World Heritage Site, with a unique concentration of prehistoric monuments.

3. Windsor Castle

   Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It is open to visitors throughout the year. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 40 monarchs. Windsor Castle is a royal residence at Windsor in the English county of Berkshire, about 25 miles (40 km) west of central London. It is strongly associated with the English and succeeding British royal family, and embodies almost a millennium of architectural history. The original castle was built in the 11th century, after the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror. Since the time of Henry I (who reigned 1100–1135), it has been used by the reigning monarch and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.

4. Highclere Castle

   The first written records of the estate date back to 749 AD when an Anglo-Saxon King granted the estate to the Bishops of Winchester. Bishop William of Wykeham built a beautiful medieval palace and gardens in the park. Later on, in 1679, the palace was rebuilt as Highclere Place House when it was purchased by Sir Robert Sawyer, the direct ancestor of the current Earl of Carnarvon. In 1842, Sir Charles Barry, who also designed the Houses of Parliament, transformed Highclere House into the present day Highclere Castle. 5. Winchester Cathedral

   Winchester Cathedral contains a unique heritage of the life of the English nation and its stones tell the stories of Kings and Queens, statesmen and politicians. But here too you can also find the loving labour and imprint of monks and pilgrims, writers and artists and working men and women. Community has been at the heart of our identity since the Benedictine Monastery was established here over a thousand years ago. Today, Cathedral is home to an active Christian community, seeking to offer a warm Benedictine welcome to all our visitors and worshippers, as though they were Christ himself.

6. The Roman Baths

   Onstructed in around 70AD as a grand bathing and socialising complex, the Roman Baths is one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world, where 1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water, reaching 46°C, still fills the bathing site every single day. The Roman Baths is the site of extensive ruins and an interactive museum filled with many treasures and visual snippets that transport you back to Roman times and the lives of the Aquae Sulis people. Walk on ancient pavements as the Romans did 2,000 years ago, and explore chambers historically housing changing rooms and tepid plunge pools. 7. Jane Austen's House

   Jane Austen’s House in the Hampshire village of Chawton is one of the most important literary sites in the world. It was in this inspiring cottage that Jane Austen’s genius flourished and where she wrote, revised, and had published all six of her globally beloved novels. Step back in time to 1816 and follow in Jane’s footsteps; discover the rooms where she lived and wrote and see her writing table, jewellery, letters and first editions of her novels up close. Explore the pretty cottage garden, try your hand at traditional garden games and enjoy Regency dress up, bonnet designing and more! 8. The Savill Garden

   The Savill Garden is a 35-acre haven of gardens, woodland and seasonal displays. Commissioned by George V and created by Eric Savill in 1932, this special place has delighted nature lovers, photographers, friends and families. An entrance fee was first charged in 1953. Generations of plant-hunters have brought back numerous specimens to be nurtured here. From the Himalayan flowers of the Winter Beds to the fragrant summer roses, whenever you visit, there will be something special to see.
