Exploring the Other Side of the Story

We explored with Steve. It was amazing. Steve is a local and knows his stuff. The ends and outs. The places to go and the ones to avoid. Small gestures that make the difference. I would recommend Steve to everyone!

Response from the operator: Dear Lisa, Thank you so much for your review. Steve told me you all had a great time and that's what it is all about, we want to offer an experience, because you deserve much more than just a private tour! I will pass the message to him. Kind regards. Marlou

    Highly recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed two days with Steven - city tour and then a day in the countryside. Steven was prompt and communicative, full of history as well as information on modern Dutch culture. He was humorous and engaging and very accommodating to our preferences. Our pre-departure communication with the office was also quickly responded to.

Response from the operator: Dear Hilary, Thank you so much you took the time to write this lovely review. We like to offer an experience instead of just a private tour. I shall pass the message to Steve. Also nice you mentioned ( me :) the office,... Take care, Marlou Baets

    Loved this tour!!

This tour was wonderful and Steve was the perfect tour guide! He knew so much history and facts about each location. We really felt immersed in each village we visited. It was hard to choose the favorite part of the tour as each place was unique and equally beautiful and charming! I would highly recommend any tour with Steve!

Response from the operator: Dear Judy, Thank you so much that you took the time to write this wonderful review. We are so proud that you as an experienced travel agent gave us 5 stars ! That's what it is all about; we like to offer an experience and believe that guests should receive much more than just a ordinary private tour. I pass the message to Steve. Take care, Marlou Baets

Great day with a terrific tour guide!

Steve was an amazing guide! He took us to many interesting places and customized through the day to meet our needs. We saw windmills, visited a small local restaurant where we had a wonderful meal, and visited a beautiful fishing village. He had a lot of knowledge about the history of the places we visited, which made the day very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Elizabeth, Thank you so much you took the time to write this wonderful review. So happy that our first tour in 2024 received this 5 star review from you ! That's what it is all about, we like to offer an experience, much more than just a private tour. I will pass the message to Steve. Take care, Marlou Baets

    Enjoyable day in the country

Steve picked up my wife and I at our hotel in central Amsterdam and drove us north to the countryside. We casually walked around Zaanse Schans and enjoyed the sights of the windmills. Steve shared his knowledge of the windmills and their historical and current significance. We enjoyed our stop in Volendam which included a cheese factory and store. We also made a stop in Marken and walked about the small village. It was a relaxed full day tour. At day's end, Steve returned us to our hotel. Steve is very easy to spend time with. He shared his country and he shared himself. Our day with him remains a highlight of the trip.

Response from the operator: Dear Steven, Thank you so much you took the time to write this wonderful review. That's what it is all about, we like to offer an experience, much more than just a private tour. I will pass the message to Steve....

Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $379 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour take?

    +

Plan for about 7.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 7.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Zaanse Schans, Clogs, Volendam & UNESCO Countyside tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
