About this experience
Operated by Senor Travel Bug, the itinerary of this tour is a classic of the Cancun and Riviera Maya region, but with two principal differences. You will ride in a Classic VW Beetle painted as a racing car (although you can choose a more 'standard' car if you prefer), and your guide, a former professional photographer, will take photos and video throughout the day, all of which will be shared with you for free by the following day. You should not leave this region of Mexico without visiting Chichen Itza, the only Modern Wonder of the World in North America. After a guided tour of the ruins, a refreshing dip in a cenote always proves very welcome and something you can only experience in this region. The final stop is in Valladolid where you stroll the streets and the main square, perhaps refreshing with a cool drink beside the cathedral to end the tour ahead of the return to Cancun. Awesome tour!
This was such a great tour! Paul offered customized recommendations and slight detours based on our individual preferences. He was very knowledgeable about all the stops and everything else in between. Based on the above, we definitely got a local taste of the region. Thanks again, Paul!

What a perfect day!
Our day with Paul was phenomenal. I’m an over-planner and over-thinker, so I connected with Paul months ahead of our trip, and he engaged with me immediately and continued to be a resource for questions prior to us ever meeting! Everything from booking, pick up, the tour itself, and returning to the hotel was super smooth. Zero stress from point to point. The cost of the tour is 100% aligned with value. Our day with Paul was filled with history, cultural insights, humor, and yummy food we would not have discovered without him! Our group of four opted for the Chichen Itza, Cénote, and Valldolid day, and we are so glad we did! We certainly would have booked another day with him exploring other sites and areas if we were here longer! The four of us are the on the big and tall side, so we opted for the Mitsubishi Xpander vehicle over the VERY COOL VW Bug. The ride was comfortable and quiet. This adventure was without a doubt the highlight of our visit, and should we return, we will be seeing Paul again!

Excellent experience
We had an excellent experience with Senior Travel Bug, touring the pyramids, a cenote, and a nearby colonial town with Paul. The entire day was thoughtfully curated and never felt rushed or overly scripted. Paul is incredibly knowledgeable and he brought the history to life in a way that was engaging without being overwhelming, and he adjusted the depth of information based on our interests. What really stood out was how he tailored the pace of the day to us, making it feel like a truly personalized experience rather than a standard tour. He’s also genuinely friendly and easy to spend the day with, which makes a big difference on a full-day excursion. We had a great time and would highly recommend Paul to anyone looking for a high-quality, customized tour experience.

Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.
How much does Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid cost?
+
Prices start at $725 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.
Is Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 76 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid?
+
Around 27 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private VW Beetle Tour to Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cozumel?
+
On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cozumel?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cozumel?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
