Great Experience and A Great Driver

Darein expertly navigated the winding mountain roads on the way up to Appleton while giving us loads of interesting facts about Jamaica. For anyone interested in this tour, be prepared for an early wakeup and a multiple hour car ride filled with winding roads and potholes.

Experience was great! Darein was a great driver navigating through traffic and the windy roads getting us to our destinations safely. He also gave us a great history of Jamaica and famous landmarks along the way. I highly recommend! Very fun experience!

Great tour with two of the best guides

Our tour to the Appleton Estates was superb mainly due to our tour guides, Jermaine and Henry. We were very fortunate to have a driver Jermaine not only superb driver, but excellent tour guide but also his finishing student who will now be an official driver Henry so we were very fortunate to have two great guides. The first stop was the Appleton Estates were after signing in we’re welcomed with our choice of two rum drinks. Both were yummy, since I was doing this tour with my sister we were able to try both. They even gave me the recipe. We then meet our guide for the rum tour and we learned so much from our guide Raisa. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great time comparing the process of making wine, which we are very, very familiar with, and the process of making rum. A tour very worthwhile. The second part of our tour was a visit to pelican Island again very friendly people. It was OK could’ve stayed more at Appleton. What made our tour so special was the knowledge and the friendliness of our guides so willing to answer any and all questions we had letting us into their lives and a little bit of their customs and familiesso thank you so much for Jermaine and Henry. They are the best.

The best way to see and learn about Jamica

A great way to see and learn about Jamica. We were lucky to have two guides, a driver Jeremiey, and a guide and future driver Henry. Our first stop was the Appleton that’s it’s just the Appleton Estates or is it Appleton Estates. Where we learned all about the the process of making rum, but also the history of making rum at the Appleton Estates. Our guide there was Reisia she was great. We had fun comparing the difference between making wine, which we are very familiar with and how they make rum. We then went to pelican Island. Which is not an island but a shack on Pilings in the ocean. Unusual but fun. But the best part of the two were our two guides. They were absolutely fantastic very knowledgeable and learned so much about the history and the people of Jamaica. Thank you Jeremy and Henry you guys are the best.

    Great tour

Me & my sister booked this very last minute due to another tour guide cancelling & it was the best decision. Darein was an amazing tour host with exceptional driving through the narrow roads of Jamaica. The rum tour was as expected, great throughout. We were unable to attend pelican bar as it was closed due to the heavy rain which was expected. Overall it was a great experience & well worth it.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Montego Bay.

How much does Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar cost?

    +

Prices start at $122 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Montego Bay usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Montego Bay is not rushed.

Is Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 60 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Montego Bay, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Montego Bay can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Montego Bay and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Transportation from Montego Bay to Appleton Estate & Pelican Bar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Montego Bay within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Montego Bay?

    +

On Outty we rank every Montego Bay experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Montego Bay Airport Transfer to Negril, Blue Hole and Dunn's River Falls Private Tour from Montego Bay, Appleton Estate Admission Ticket & Distillery Tour with Tastings. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Montego Bay?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Montego Bay?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
