Disappointed Daughters on a graduation trip

Lets start by saying it was miserably hot during this adventure. We were going to cancel the tour but the tour director emailed us prior to the date of the trip and moved the colosseum to the morning due to the intense heat. so we decided to continue with the plan. we had a taxi pick us up at 9:00 for an extra $40 and we were to start the tour at 9:30. Unfortunately they had several problems and we did not get in till 12:45. through a line not skip the line till after we entered stood outside in 100+ heat. We were so exhausted after the only 45 min tour of the colosseum that when we finally made it to the Vatican we had to stop part way through and just get back to the room. Extremely exhausted!! The director over this gave us a $299 refund but I still do not feel like we got our money’s worth. My suggestion is to book these tours separately to much to do together.

Response from the operator: sir this pick up was not included first of all so must pay the pick up cost as you requested this than its summer time hot feeling is not in our hand and as you booked colosseum tour included palatine hill and forum with walking tour so you should be ready to walk as it is an walking tour you have done roman forum and palatine hill before than went to the colosseum by 12.25 pm which in not abnormal !

Our guide was absolutely...

Our guide was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge of papal history and the Vatican was unbelievable. He had an infectious passion for it all and it added to the tour tremendously. Skipping the lines was also a great benefit, I wouldn't take a tour any other way. We got there before the Vatican officially opened and when we left there were literally thousands of people waiting to get in. Highly, highly recommended.

Response from the operator: thanks a lot for this wonderful review to us sir we are happy to see you were satisfied

Great time in Rome!

We had only one day in Rome as part of a cruise we were on, so we had a lot we wanted to see in a short period of time. These guys were great. Communication was good leading up to the tour date. They proactively reached out to me to confirm time & place for pickup. We had a change in our arrival & they were very flexible & accommodating for us. We had 2 tour guides. The first was our guide for the Vatican museums, St. Peter's & Sistine Chapel. He was absolutely amazing. Extraordinarily knowledgeable, very passionate about history & an overall great guide. He took the time to share with our kids things to keep them engaged, too, which made it fun for everyone. We skipped the ticket line & actually entered the Vatican before it officially opened to the public. When we left it was clear that we saved hours of time that would otherwise be spent in ticket lines and then entrance lines. REALLY important when on vacation to make the most of the day. Our 2nd guide was for the Coloseum & the Roman Forum. She was equally outstanding. Took the time to share with us historical context that made the tour informative and yet approachable for the kids (15 & 12). Our tour included lunch, which was good. About what you'd expect. We've been on a similar tour in the past and these guys were fantastic. Highly recommended!!

Response from the operator: Thanks alot for this fantastic review which made us happy to about your satisfaction during the tour. We will be loving again to see you in rome again.

Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line cost?

+

Prices start at $1800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 38 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour: Vatican & Sistine Chapel Without Line start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
