Paid for a private guided tour for my family. Tour guide Genaldi was not knowledgeable of any history or background on anything. We drove around in silence most of the time. When he did speak his accent was too thick for my kids to understand. Don’t take this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not match your expectations. However, we would like to clarify what this service includes, as there appears to have been a misunderstanding about the type of tour booked. We do not advertise or provide a professionally guided historical tour, and nowhere in our listing do we state that a professional tour guide will provide historical commentary or detailed information about San Francisco’s landmarks. This is a private sightseeing transportation experience with a professional chauffeur. The service is designed to let guests enjoy San Francisco without having to plan routes, navigate traffic, search for parking, or coordinate transportation between landmarks. Because the vehicle and chauffeur are dedicated exclusively to your family, you also have the flexibility to spend additional time taking photos, adjust stops, and customize the itinerary based on your preferences. Unlike a traditional group tour, where guests must follow a predetermined route and schedule, our private sightseeing experience is intended to provide comfort, convenience, privacy, and flexibility while visiting San Francisco’s major landmarks. We regret that you were expecting a guided historical tour, but we do feel it is important to clarify that this is not how the service is advertised or represented.

Brilliant, enlightening, comfortable and value for money
Our tour was really made fun, informative and worthwhile by our driver, Alex. He is knowledgeable, patient, and very friendly. We were always in comfort throughout the tour and learned a great deal about SF. I would do this tour again just for the great company of Alex. 5 stars all around.

Wonderful guide and driver, very knowledgeable and friendly... even tried to open our doors for us! we usually beat him to the task... was a very relaxing way to see the city when my family visited. I'd recommend this private tour over trying to drive, and park, all over the city.

Our driver/guide was so knowledgeable, polite he really did try to open our doors for us before we did!, and professional. Gave us good insights into the areas we were travelling, even recommendations for restaurants after our tour. We're so happy we decided to let someone else do the driving and parking. Vehicle was clean and newer. Very happy with Alex.

Why this scores 36
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour cost?
+
Prices start at $450 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 36 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour: San Francisco Sightseeing - 3 Hour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
