Highlights of Jordan with family with kids

Amazing trip! We went on a 6 day private tour as a family with 2 tweens. We covered all of the major sites from Amman, to the North of Jordan for spectacular views of Lake Tiberius, then south to Petra, Aqaba, Wadi Rum, Dead Sea. Freddy was an amazing tour guide who tailored the experience to our pace and connected it all together. Syed was a great driver. Would highly recommend for any family. They offer customized tours beyond what’s listed.

    Excellent two-day trip to Petra

I wanted to tack on a private two-days (one night) itinerary in Jordan at the end of a planned business trip. I contacted PN Tours after I saw them recommended in a guide book, and Mae Badua responded pretty much immediately with some detailed comments and ideas about possibilities - I was very impressed with her helpfulness and responsiveness. I could have squeezed in Dead Sea and Wadi Rum, but after some discussion with Mae, I decided to concentrate on just Petra. Really enjoyed the trip, and it was nice to not rush Petra. Very happy too with my driver Saber - very pleasant and friendly, and we had some nice conversation!

A reliable, trustworthy and overall wonderful tour company!

It’s hardly necessary to sing the praises of a visit to Petra, and it is everything, and more, that we’d been led to expect. No, this review is entirely about Petra By Nights Tours as a company. Travelling with my wife, adult daughter, and son-in-law we had an entirely too short visit to Jordan planned, only 4 nights, and we had decided beforehand to base oursleves in Aqaba for it’s proximity to Petra and Wadi Rum. What we envisioned and hoped for was a pickup at 6am at our hotel in Aqaba with a driver and guide. Multiple efforts beforehand, through multple tour companies, in the US, Israel and Jordan all proved fruitless and frustrating as most transports/groups leave from Eilat when coming to Petra from Israel, and they are geared to larger groups. By luck I found Petra by Night while in Tel-Aviv, contacted them, and the whole experience was top-notch. Ms. Harlene in the Amman office responded to our email request promptly, was very responsive in terms of adjusting the price quoted as we had ‘Jordan Passes’ (highly recommended, btw), and totally clear about our plans. Sure enough, our driver, Ali, was waiting in our hotel lobby promptly at 6am. He was more than pleasant, well informed, had no agenda regards taking us to a ‘tourist stop’ coming or going, and arranged for a guide (unnecessary IMHO) once we arrived at the entrance to the Petra site. Moreover, when he encountered van trouble which delayed his meeting us at the end of the day, a quick phone call had a substitute driver there in short order, with Ali meeting us half-way back to Aqaba beside himself with apologies. In short, this company deserves the highest possible praise in terms of their providing service, being flexible, honest and totally delivering on the wants/needs of their clients. Thank you Petra nights, for a memorable experience; I look forward to a return visit to Jordan, one of longer duration, and you will be my first contact when planning that trip!

Tour of Mt Nebo, Petra, Wadi Rum & Dead Sea & Amman

We had a fantastic 4 days tour of Jordan. First day was Mt. Nebo and mosaic map followed the crusader castle. Second day we spent almost the whole day in Petra with a personalised tour guide and had late lunch (mansaf) at Mom's Recipe. Third day we went to Wadi Rum with another personalised tour guide in the desert then we drove to Dead Sea Fourth day we went to Citadel and Roman theatre in Amman The tour guide was dedicated to us at most critical times. There were also appointed guide for each important sites eg Petra and Wadi Rum. The timing suits our routine and each journey was performed in a timeframe acceptable to us. We had a guide which could entertain us in terms of cuisine in Jordan. We had the best lamb BBQ and mansaf rice. Overall this trip was one of my best holiday.

Response from the operator: Dear hpit2368, we are happy to hear you spent a great time with us in Jordan! Thank you for your review.

Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amman.

How much does Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman cost?

    +

Prices start at $370 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amman usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amman is not rushed.

Is Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Amman, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amman can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amman and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour Petra and Shobak Castle from Amman start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amman within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amman?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amman experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include From Amman: Petra and Wadi rum Private/Group Full day Tour, Discover Trax Jo Playground and Traffic Park Fun, From Amman :Private or Group Full day tour to Petra. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amman?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amman?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
