Tony & Francesco: The Perfect Duo for Exploring Italy
If you’re planning a trip along the Amalfi Coast, I cannot recommend Tony and Francesco enough! They truly made this the best tour of Italy I’ve ever experienced. Our day began with a stop in Conca dei Marini, where we enjoyed delicious gelato while taking in breathtaking panoramic views of the sparkling coastline, the sea, and Positano’s iconic stacked hillside villages. It was the perfect way to start the day. Next, we visited the beautiful town of Positano. We had plenty of time to explore the charming shops, stroll down to the beach, and wander through the picturesque streets. I was amazed by how spacious, modern, and beautifully maintained everything was despite the dramatic hillside setting. One of the highlights of the day was visiting a limoncello factory, where we learned how authentic Italian limoncello is made. The tasting experience was fantastic! We sampled several delicious varieties, including lemon, melon, pistachio, and milk limoncello, along with exceptional olive oils. It was both educational and incredibly enjoyable. We ended the tour with a wonderful lunch overlooking the stunning Amalfi Coast. The food, the scenery, and the atmosphere were simply unforgettable. Tony was an outstanding guide; knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the history and beauty of the region. Francesco was an exceptional driver, expertly navigating the winding coastal roads while making us feel safe and comfortable throughout the journey. Together, Tony and Francesco are the perfect duo! Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made this an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for a tour that combines breathtaking scenery, local culture, incredible food, and genuine hospitality, look no further. I would book with them again in a heartbeat!

Amazing day! Mary was the best guide!
We wanted a tour that gave us time to explore a couple of the cities on the Amalfi Coast and this was the perfect experience. Mary our tour guide was the best guide we had our entire vacation that included 5 other tours. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. Gave us enough info but not over bearing and great recommendations in Sorrento! Van was clean and comfortable and our driver was excellent as well. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Dear Bruno, thank you very much for choosing Touring Italy! We are delighted to hearing this feedback from you! We always try to get better at this, and Marianna is a new star we found! We look forward to seeing you soon! Sincerely, Roberto D'Alessandro Touring Italy.

Amalfi Coast experience
Very expensive trip. Excellent driver over the 8 hours drive to Positano and Sorrento. The vehicle was not VIP standard - fairly uncomfortable and utility. No water provided in the vehicle over 11 hour trip. Positano absolutely wonderful but thought Sorrento a waste of time and journey - purely a tourist trap and very crowded. Lunch in a farmhouse as described in the 'overview' did not happen. The organising company needs to 'up' its facilities to qualify for VIP status.
Response from the operator: Dear Richard, we Thank you very much for choosing this tour and for sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor. Although we are indeed sorry not to be rated five stars as our driver. Through our exchange of phone calls and emails we were willing to compensate you for the extra expenses you had for lunch, even though, as we were explaining, Viator shows lunch included in the overview section but we did actually not include it. We were hoping to clarify this with Viator as well, but we understand how frustrating this must be from your end and for that we are truly sorry and we apologize. We do hope we will be given another chance in the future to provide you an excellent travel service. Thanks so much for your time and cooperation. Best Regards, Roberto D'Alessandro Touring Italy.

Great way to transfer hotels and sightsee along the way!
We hired Touring Italy for a private transfer from Rome to Sorrento, but wanted to also make some stops along the way. The owner, Roberto, arranged for us to have a private tour of Pompeii, lunch and wine tasting at a winery in Mt. Vesuvius, and a drive along the Amalfi Coast with a stop in Positano all before bringing us to our hotel in Sorrento. Our driver, Andrea, was amazing! Not only was he prompt and courteous, he was also funny, helpful, and engaging during the entire trip. It has been almost a month since our drive with Andrea, and my family and I are still talking about how much more fun he made that day. The private tour and wine tasting were also highlights of our trip. Roberto did an excellent job of arranging everything for this day, and it was a stress free way to move from one hotel to another while also creating many memories along the way. I highly recommend Touring Italy!
Response from the operator: Dear Mrs. Kelsey Ford, thank you very much for choosing Touring Italy and taking the time to share your thoughts on this trip with us on social media. We really appreciate your time and we are extremely happy you keep fond memories of your trip with Touring Italy! We look forward to welcome you back and extend to you other great travel experiences! Best Regards, Roberto D'Alessandro Touring Italy.

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome cost?
+
Prices start at $590 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 11-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour of the Amalfi coast from Rome start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
