About this experience
A Certified Guide for Knossos Palace is NOT INCLUDED What sets this tour apart is its **soul**—not just the stops, but the *why* behind them. In just one carefully crafted day, you get a full bite of Crete: its sacred flavors, its living crafts, its wine-soaked hospitality, and its ancient myths. We don’t rush. We don’t overpack. We do it the old Cretan way—slow, generous, and real. You’ll taste olive oil from groves where the trees are older than some civilizations. You’ll meet a potter whose hands remember secrets passed down for generations. You’ll drink wines born from volcanic soil and eat a village lunch the way locals do on a Sunday. And finally, you’ll walk in the footsteps of kings and legends at Knossos. No staged folklore, no touristy fluff—just the Crete we love, shared with you the way it was always meant to be: with heart, time, and good company.

Fabulous Look at Life in Crete
This was our favorite tour during our 9 day trip to Greece - we loved everything about it. Our tour guide was terrific - she was very personable and we really enjoyed chatting with her throughout the day. (I'm only sorry I can't remember her name!). Knossos Palace is CROWDED - and it was hot - there were long lines to get in and we were there for about 90 minutes and decided to leave, to make sure we had plenty of time for everything else. Our personalized tour of Titakis winery and the tasting was lovely, we really enjoyed the experience (and of course took some home to enjoy!). Same for the olive farm, it was such an eye opening experience to see how the family makes their olive oil and nothing goes to waste! We brought lots of items home from there as well! We finished off with an amazing lunch - they just started bringing more and more dishes, each one delicious and what struck us was the hospitality. Everyone was so happy to show us a piece of their "everyday lives" and as my husband gushed at the end of the day, that is EXACTLY what we hoped to see. HIGHLY recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: What a joy to read your review — thank you for taking us along on your 9-day Greek adventure, and we’re honored this tour stood out as your favorite! It sounds like the day unfolded just as we hope it does: a bit of history, a taste of the land, and, most importantly, heartfelt connections with the people behind it all. You're absolutely right about Knossos — it can feel like half of Europe is there some mornings — but we’re glad you listened to your instincts and made room for the true soul of the day: the olive grove, the wine, the long lunch, and the warmth of real Cretan hospitality. That moment when the dishes just keep coming... it’s not just lunch, it’s an embrace. Ευχαριστούμε πολύ — your kind words mean more than you know.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour, Knossos Palace, Olive Oil, Pottery, Winery, Lunch?

When is the best time to visit Heraklion?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Heraklion?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
