Caution!!!! Do not book!
I booked a $1500 PRIVATE tour. We were running late (which should be okay on a private tour). We were okay with going out for3- 4 hours instead of 5 hours, especially because we are traveling with a baby and small children. I communicated with the tour operator that we were running late and okay with going out for less time. Since this is a private tour for just my family, and I reserved 5 hours….. why should this be an issue???? When we got there, no one could find our boat. We sat there for 1 hour with our baby and kids while these 2 guys were calling trying to find our boat. I called the operator and she couldn’t find our boat either. She kept telling these men helping us to look for a man named Cesar, but Cesar was not there. After waiting for 1 hour they tried to put us on a run down boat. Let me reiterate this was a private tour including snorkel equipment, lunch, and beverages. I will include a picture of the 1500 boat they attempted to place us on. We did not get on this boat, and now they are refusing a refund.
Response from the operator: Hi Donald, Thank you for choosing us during your vacation in the beautiful Cozumel, in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t go as expected. We understand how traveling with young children can sometimes lead to unexpected delays. However, please note that as a shore excursion provider, we operate within limited time frames due to cruise schedules. Whether a tour is private or shared, all experiences must return to port well before your ship’s All Aboard time for safety and logistics reasons. In this case, we did not receive timely notice that you were running late. Your message came in once you were already over an hour past the scheduled departure time. Given it was high season and the boat and crew had been ready to go, we had to reassign the original vessel to avoid further delays to our operations. When you arrived, our team made every effort to offer an alternative boat so you could still enjoy the day, but we understand it did not meet your expectations. Since the tour was fully staffed and prepared to depart as scheduled, and services were declined due to the late arrival, we are unable to issue a refund. We hope to welcome you again in the future under better circumstances. Warm regards, The Costa Maya Shore Excursions Team

New, learning, but EXTERMLY friendly!
I would have loved to give this a 10 out of 10, but I have to move it down a bit. First, we had to wait a few hours longer than we wanted to get started, we were told to either meet in town at the shop or at the marina, we chose marina, and they expected us at the shop, miscommunication for sure. Once we got with our guide Renee, it was a GREAT experience. They were very friendly and had the proper equipment needed. They also took us to some fantastic places to snorkel. On the internet, we were told that we would have beer and some ceviche, but they only had water and coke, sandwiches (which probably would have been better in a cooler instead of sitting out in the sun) and fresh fruit (which WAS AWESOME and Fresh), but there wasn't beer or ceviche, they said they didn't know about that it was listed. Again, I would highly recommend this excursion, they said we were their first customers, so I feel it will only get better. Thank you again!
Response from the operator: Dear Gus_S, Thank you so much for choosing our El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling private tour for your day in Cozumel and for sharing your experience on TripAdvisor! :) We're thrilled that you had a great time exploring El Cielo Sandbar and snorkeling at the reef with our guide Renee. We apologize for the initial miscommunication about the meeting point, but we're glad everything worked out well afterward. We'll definitely take your comments into consideration and make improvements to provide an even better experience for our future guests. We appreciate your recommendation and are truly grateful to have had you as our very first customer for this new tour! It means a lot to us!! :) We hope the rest of your cruise aboard Celebrity Cruises was equally enjoyable. If you ever find yourself back in Cozumel, we would love to welcome you again for another memorable adventure! Thank you once again, and cheers to many more incredible journeys! Tropical regards, The Costa Maya Shore Excursions Team

Why this scores 48
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.
How much does Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling cost?
+
Prices start at $189 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.
Is Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour in Cozumel El Cielo Sandbar and Reef Snorkeling start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cozumel?
+
On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cozumel?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cozumel?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
