What you'll see and do
The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses
The Terracotta Army or the "Terracotta Warriors and Horses" is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210–209 BC and whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife. The figures, dating from approximately the late third century BC, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers.

Muslim Quarter
Xian used to be the starting point of the Silk Road linking Constantinople with China. The journey used to take more than two years. Horses, camels and carriages brought precious goods from one part of the world to the other. But it was not only material things that were transported; culture, religion and languages were also brought to China from what is Turkey today. Two of the world's leading religions arrived in China along the Silk Route, Buddhism and Islam. Islam became particularly popular in the city of Xian. Still today part of the population of Xian is Muslim. In the center there is the Muslim Quarter, with its handicraft shops, muslim restaurants, and the famous Muslim Mosque.

Terracotta Army, Drum and Bell Tower, Muslim Quarter
What a great tour. This was exactly what my husband and I wanted., a personalised private tour. Highly recommend. From booking to confirmation to the tour guide making contact prior to the tour date, it was all very organised. Anna, our tour guide was punctual, picking us up from our hotel at 9.00am. She had a friendly and happy personality and from our meeting in the hotel lobby, I felt confident that she was going to be a great tour guide. I was right, she certainly was. Anna spoke very good English, had extensive knowledge and gave detailed and interesting commentary on the places we visited. She recommended the virtual experience which we visited after the main Terracotta Army Museum. This was located in the grounds of the Museum and definitely worth a visit. Anna helped with food recommendations for lunch specifically for my husband who is vegan. Our driver Mr Hu was friendly and took us safely to and from our tour locations in a comfortable air conditioned car. Anna and Mr Hu worked well together and he was ready and waiting to pick us up after each stop. We also visited the Drum and Bell Tower and the Muslim Quarter. Anna helped us with food tasting and was very accommodating when we stopped off in a few shops along the way. We were taken back to our hotel at 5.00pm. A fabulous day. Thank you Mr Hu for being such a good driver. Thank you Anna for making our experience in Xian memorable. This was a great tour and well worth the price. If you are looking for something personalised and private without hesitation, we would recommend choosing this tour. Beverley and Bernard.

Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Xian.
How much does Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum cost?
+
Prices start at $155 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Xian usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Xian is not rushed.
Is Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Xian, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Xian can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Xian and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour: Classic Highlights of Xi'an with Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Xian within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Xian?
+
On Outty we rank every Xian experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Xi'an Day Tour: Terracotta Army&Optional City Attractions, All-Inclusive Terracotta Army Tour with Premium Buffet Lunch, 2-Day Customized Warriors Tours & Xian Top Attractions. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Xian?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Xian?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
