About this experience
This tour is unique, it shows you in a single tour the majesty of underground architecture, the magic and mysticism of our ancestral cultures around the Colombian capital, you will always do it in the company of one of our expert guides. The tour begins in the only cathedral built underground in the world, located up to 180 meters below the ground, it is an impressive mega structure where the ingenuity to build a mine of this magnitude is spectacularly combined with the artistic vision of the Christian Stations of the Cross and the construction of a religious temple that integrates a great work of sculpture and lighting. We will continue the tour traveling towards a hidden treasure among the native nature of the Bogotá savannah. At the highest point, in the middle of the mountains, is the sacred lagoon of Guatavita, the place where an ancient legend was born: El Dorado.

Fantastic Private Tour!
We had an amazing time on this private tour! Our guide David was fantastic, and Steve was a great driver. We learned so much about the history and had plenty of opportunities to ask questions along the way. The tour gave us some truly fantastic impressions and memorable experiences. Highly recommended!

Guatavita & Zipaquirá greqtvplaces to visit
This was an exceptional experience, from the pickup to the drop-off at the hotel. At all times, Jhovanny and Christian were very kind, respectful, and attentive. They truly demonstrated a wealth of knowledge at both locations: the Sacred Lagoon of the Cacique of the Muyskas community of Guatavita and the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. I highly recommend their guidance and the narrative they provide about these places.

Absolutely perfect!
From the purchase experience, Nomadas team was very attentive to put together a special tour as we could not climb Guatavita lagoon, so we did something specially built for our interests and possibilities. Guide Laura was excellent: knowledge and very careful during the tour to make the best experience and get the most for the whole time. Absolutely recommended!

Breathtaking experience out side the busy city
Amazing! Went into the experience expecting something very different and was blown away with both experiences. Andrea our guide was fantastic. Friendly, informative, knew when to provide time to just reflect and enjoy. Such a fantastic guide. Couldn’t recommend this experience more. Two distinct experiences but both absolutely breathtaking.

From Heavenly Lagoon to Salt of the Earth
Our private tour to Laguna Guatavita and Cathedral Sal Zipaquirá was terrific. Our guide, David, from Nomadas Colombia Travel, is a wonderful storyteller, and he provided a great explanation of the sites. He is kind and patient too. David knew the good spots for eating, including a stop for arepas and fresh hot corn on the cob, which tasted like popcorn. His driver was lovely too. Highly recommend.
Response from the operator: What a joy to read your review, thank you so much! 🩷 We're so happy to hear you enjoyed the tour to Guatavita Lagoon and the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá so much. David is an exceptional guide, passionate about sharing the stories and flavors of Colombia, and we love knowing that his company made the experience even more special. 😊 Thank you for recommending Nómadas Colombia Travel. We hope to welcome you back soon to continue exploring the most magical corners of our country together! ✨

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.
How much does Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita cost?
+
Prices start at $68 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.
Is Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 46 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour Cathedral Sal Zipaquira and Laguna Guatavita start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bogotá?
+
On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria., Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Viejo Bogota Food Tour with 12+ Tastings. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bogotá?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bogotá?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
