Amazing and personalized experience!
Everything was perfect! Axel, Miguel, and Marvis were super knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging throughout the whole tour. The restaurant choices were amazing, we got a private cenote experience, and they even threw a surprise celebration for one of the kid's birthdays. Everything went super smoothly, from pickup to drop-off. We will be back to use Jaguar Journey! Thanks!

AMAZING!!!!! Loved our Tour!!
Myself and two friends booked Jaguar Journeys for a tour to Chichen Itza/Cenote/Valladolid. It was amazing. Axel is VERY passionate about Mayan culture, has a degree in archeology and has participated on a Mayan dig. His knowledge about the history and culture of the Mayan people is expansive and he loves sharing it. There was good communication with his team before hand. We had to make a few changes to number of guests and pick up time and it was no problem. Marvis (the driver) was a very good driver and stayed with the van and our stuff the whole trip. The cenote was off in jungle with only a few people at it, so very private and not over run with other tourists/tour buses. We had lunch at a locals spot just outside Valladolid with traditional Mayan food. We had some dietary restrictions in the group and Axel made sure that it was taken care of. Axel then gave us a short tour in Valladolid of the church and some amazing paintings in city hall. It was all at our own pace and we had the freedom the check things out (like the chocolate shop in town). We felt VERY fortunate to have book our tour with Jaguar Journey and would definitely use them again for any tour in the area. If you are considering a private tour, this is definitely the way to go, don't hesitate.

Chichen Itza and Cenote with Axel
We had a great time at Chichen Itza, at a Cenote, and in Valladolid with Axel. I would recommend this tour highly! Axel was the real deal - an excellent guide with a deep knowledge of Mayan history, having studied it at university as part of a lifelong passion. He has even worked restoring pyramids at El Mirador in Guatemala!

Beyond Expectations
If I could rate 10 stars, I would! This private tour was more than I expected. My husband had arranged this tour, and he could not believe how easy it was. We chose the starlit Chichen Itza tour. I have done a tour of Chichen Itza with a Cenote tour in the past, and it was a giant bus of probably 60-80 people during the day. It was crowded, hot, and not all that enjoyable. This night tour was the complete opposite! We were picked up by our guide. Axel and driver, Marvin. Marvin was a complete gentleman, opening the door for me and handing me the seatbelt. It was such a nice gesture, and I felt like a queen. Instantly, in the car, we felt like friends. On our drive, we chatted about everything! My husband was still getting over a cough from way before our trip, and Axel made a stop on our way to get a healing honey mixture from a local stand that also happened to sell the most delicious treats. I'm not sure where this was, but if you take this tour, mention it to Axel to take you there!!! We visited a cenote. We were the only ones there. We spent about 45 minutes in complete heaven. So peaceful and beautiful. Once getting in the car there was a basket of fruit, snacks, water and beer!! From there, we toured the city of Vallidolid. What a beautiful city. We walked all around, experiencing the architecture, the people, the local artisans, and vendors. We visited a park and ate a traditional marquesita. You must eat one on your visit! We went to another market where we sampled all kinds of different candies, cheese, etc. Never once did you feel pressured into buying a thing. All the vendors were very generous at giving samples and showing their offerings but never made you feel uncomfortable in the least. We had a late lunch at the most exquisite restaurant called Ellaganzza. We sat on the back patio and had a traditional family dinner. Being that I was vegetarian, they prepared my own dish of empanadas. The food was beyond delicious!! Afterward, we decided to move on to the town of Piste just outside of Chichen Itza. We visited a park and ate a traditional marquesita. You must try one! We still had some time before the night show so Axel asked us if we wanted to go for a drink or if there was anything we'd like to do or see and we opted to grab a coffee. Of course, Axel knew the perfect place for us- Luna Cafe. What a gem this cafe was. It's an eclectic space with some cool art and an amazing playlist! The service was on point, and the coffees were so smooth. We got an opportunity to speak with the staff, and again, we felt like friends. On to Chichen Itza. What a way to experience the immenseness of a time and place in history. It should not be missed. Of course, Axel had explained the history and significance and even had videos and photos to show us explaining further details. And here is the best part of the tour: Marvin and Axel set up a birthday surprise for my husband! They filled the car with balloons, cupcakes with candles and a gift for him! This was beyond thoughtful and completely unexpected. My husband actually teared up. Axel and Marvin, you really know how to treat people. Your kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed. Both of you made us feel so special, and we are honoured to have been able to spend the day with you. You will never get treatment like this on any other tour, so do yourself a favour and book with Jaguar Journeys.

The best tour you'll go on!
Our tour with Jaguar Journey was by far the best tour we've ever been on. This is a long review but they deserve to have others know just how good their service really is. We opted to see Chitzen Itza at night. The tour included private car with our fantastic driver Marvin and our very knowledgeable guide Axel. A swim at a Mayan guarded Cenote. A visit to the town of Valladolid for early dinner at a local restaurant. On to a stop in Piste Chitzen Itza. Then finally ending at the Chitzen Itza site for a tour of the grounds and night show. First off arranging the tour was very simple. Their staff replied right away with any and all information we needed to make our decision about which tour to take. A deposit was required. They use a payment system similar to PayPal in Mexico. It works fine we had no issue with the service, it was safe! After that we made arrangements about specifics, my wife being vegetarian was the main one. They were able to accommodate us with no issues. Pick up day - Axel and Marvin arrived at the hotel at 12pm sharp! Wait3for us when we got to the lobby pick up area. A quick introduction and off we went to visit a Cenote for a swim. Good music, good conversation in the car. They are a pleasure to hang out with. Never a dull moment. At the Cenote we were 2 of 4 people there... And the other 2 were just leaving as we got there. We had the entire cenote to ourselves to swim in for the next 45 minutes. What an incredible experience. Axel gave a history lesson the significance of these cenotes and what they mean to the Mayan people. Axel took pictures for us as we swam. Once we finished we dried off changed and Marvin was waiting with the car as we came out of the change rooms. Hop in and we find a tray of Mexican snacks and drinks with a couple beers if we wanted. From there we enjoyed a snack as they took us to our next stop Valladolid. Next up was early dinner/lunch. We went to a small restaurant called Eleganzza Restaurante. Here we shared a family style Mexican meal. It was delicious. Next we got the opportunity to visit the Mexican market. Axel took us around and let us experience some special cheeses and candies made by the locals.... Best cheese I've ever had, Oaxaca cheese. Mmmm, I'm going to miss that. From there we went the park in the centre of town. It was still busy with a bunch of the large tour buses. So Axel decided to make a detour and took us to city hall. It looked closed, but he talked with the security and we got to go in and have a nice lesson about the history of the town and see the paintings depicting that history. From there on to the church. A beautiful old church. Then on to the park, after the tour buses left. Made the experience all that much better. No large crowds it was fantastic. Thanks these small details are what make taking a small group or private tour worth every penny! From there Axel took us on a walk through town to see how one of his favourite areas looks.... It looks great, very inviting and people were very friendly. At the end of our walk Marvin was waiting for us with the car, on to the next stop. We drove up to Piste Chitzen Itza. Here we had an opportunity to try a Mexican street food desert, Marquesitas. So glad he made us try them. We were still full from dinner but these were delicious. We looked in some of the small shops but we still had some time to kill so Axel let us decide what we'd like to do next. We asked if we could go for a coffee? Absolutely! They took us to Luna Cafe in town. Here we had one of the best coffees I've ever had. We got to chat with the employees and enjoy ourselves as we relaxed before we went to Chitzen Itza. This is the way to experience Chitzen Itza. All of the buildings are lit up, the crowds are small, its dark so its not a million degrees outside! It was perfect. Axel again took us around the grounds telling us the history and significance of the architecture. In fact he did such a good job that we were able to follow along with the light projection show on the pyramid perfectly as it was narrated in Spanish, and our Spanish is very limited! So thanks to you for that Axel! After the show Marvin and Axel brought us back to the car. Here they had a surprise waiting for me. It was my birthday on the days of the tour. Marvin set up some cupcakes with a candle and they sang Happy Birthday to me! Even at 46 I felt like a kid again.... Thank you so much that really meant so much and it was completely unexpected. They gave me a gift bag with some souvenirs and treats to take home. I did a birthday tequila shot and then it was time to head home. It truly is the small things that make a big difference. Thanks for doing the small thing in a big way! Can't wait til next time. I will definitely be looking you up!
