Amazing Private Week-long Tour
We had an incredible experience with Arctic Exped during our week-long trip to Iceland. We highly recommend them to anyone visiting the country. We selected the “Provide Great Weather” option, and Julian came through in spades! The weather during the week we were there was amazing! However, we also selected the “Provide Safe but Exceptional Volcanic Eruption” and he told us that something went wrong with the equipment and he was not able to make it happen. Seriously, though, Julian is incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and managed all our logistics—including driving, hotel arrangements, and adventures—seamlessly. What’s unique about Arctic Exped and Julian is that we went off the beaten path, and often found ourselves in beautiful, secluded spots that felt truly private. We particularly enjoyed the private glacier hike, ice climbing, kayaking, hiking in the Highlands, and visits to the ice caves and beaches. We also had a blast doing the buggy ride. The accommodations were excellent (amazing hotels!), and we enjoyed dining at some wonderful restaurants throughout the trip. One thing that really stood out, however, was Julian’s support when we encountered a minor medical issue. He was incredibly helpful, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of, allowing us to get back to enjoying our vacation with peace of mind. We are so grateful for his care and the unforgettable memories he helped us create. Iceland is a beautiful country and if you haven’t considered going there, you should. And if you do, definitely reach out to Arctic Exped for a customized tour. You will love it!

7 day family trip in Iceland
Our family spent 7 days with Julian touring Iceland. We have traveled the world and Julian is one of the best tour guides we have ever had. He worked with us to develop a customized itinerary that was perfect for our family. We got to see the highlights of Iceland but Julian was also able to take us off the beaten path so we felt like we had the entire country to ourselves. This included a picnic on a deserted beach with a view of the icebergs, hikes to secret waterfalls and walks through ice caves. Julian was knowledgeable, fun and entertaining and went above and beyond every chance he could. We highly recommend that you book Julian for your next trip.
Response from the operator: Hi Neil! Thank you for the kind review! I'm so happy I got to escape the crowds and take you off the beaten path! Thanks for being an adventurous an easy going family! Enjoy your golf trip!

Best ever!
Michal was exceptional. Our family of 5 had two full day tours and it was like traveling with a friend. Great photos too! We do private tours when we travel and this was the best. Iceland is amazing and more special with an exceptional tour guide. A++++
Response from the operator: Thank you! Will pass this on to Michal!

The absolute highlight of our family vacation!
This private South Coast tour was hands-down the best part of our entire trip. Julian was an absolutely phenomenal guide, his energy was infectious, and his fun personality kept us laughing the whole time. You could tell he was completely dedicated to making sure our family had a blast, going above and beyond to tailor the day just for us. It felt less like a standard private tour and more like exploring Iceland with a great friend! Every spot we visited was stunning. Our first stop was the black sand beach, where Julian took us to his "secret spot." We had the entire beach completely to ourselves, which was amazing. Next, we ventured out to the glacier to hike. We saw incredible crevasses and even got to do some glacier wall climbing, a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. Julian timed it perfectly so we had the whole glacier to ourselves, too. We wrapped up the journey stopping at some amazing waterfalls, including Seljalandsfoss, where you can actually walk right behind the falls! We had the best time and are already looking forward to booking a return multi-day trip with Julian. Well done to Julian and the team; I definitely recommend them to anyone wanting an amazing journey!
Response from the operator: Hey Robert! Thanks for the kind words. I had a blast with you guys too. Such an easy, fun day. I'm glad you enjoyed the ice climbing. I love getting the ice axes dirty! Hope we meet again my friend!

Once in a lifetime experience with phenomenal guide
Our family of four (two young teens and two adults) loved every minute of our time with Julian. He was quite responsive from the moment we booked, helping us customize our tour to exactly what we wanted to see, was perfectly on time for our pickup, and went out of his way to tailor each activity to the physical limitations of our group. Julian was so friendly and knowledgeable about the landscape and ecology of Iceland, pointing out details we never would have noticed on our own. The small details are really what set him apart from other guides or group tours - reliable private transport, adaptability, experience and knowledge of Iceland, and he even stopped for snacks for my aways hungry teen! This was by far one of the best tours we have ever taken. We had such an amazing time with Julian that we booked a second tour days later with him as well!

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos cost?
+
Prices start at $1750 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private South Coast and Glacier Hike - With photos start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
